Hello!!

How is your evening going?

The pain is very intense. I broke down and started taking pain medicine. I don't like using or needing medicine. But If I don't I can't sit or lay and feel comfortable. I need medicine to help me function.

I believe one kidney stone is passing. Dalaudid is taking the edge off the pain.

I am tolerating puréed foods. But it's hard to eat, the pain makes it hard to want to eat.

I go back tomorrow for more testing. :( I hope to share positive news soon!!!

Best,

Sannah

Sannah,

I have a weird thing about taking pain meds too.

But sometimes ( like now ) you need them!

Please don't suffer more than you have to.

I wish there was something we could do..

We all are pulling for you.

Hang in there it just has to get better.

Hello,

How are you doing? I broke down and took the pain meds. Dalaudid is taking the edge off the pain. I can now sit, move and lay without a ton of pain.

You are doing tons for me by chatting with me. It's comforting to have a place to chat and get support. I talk to my hubby and family, but It's nice to talk with people who've been sleeved!

How's your little guy?! Venla is great and walking all over like crazy. She seems to be super clingy!! :) it's nice to snuggle with her!!

Best,

Sannah

I'm glad you "broke down" silly girl and took your

Medicine!

I can tell you I love chatting with you too! it works both ways you know even though you are going through this horrible time you are giving me support too, I have been able to tell you things about my daily sleeved life and it helps to know you care!

My son, husband and I went for a hike today, it was nice but my son is really dramatic! He's not a typical boy he'd rather be behind a book or the computer .. He hates leaving the house sometimes. Weird huh?

Oh! oh! a walking Venla is going to be a busy Venla!!

She is probably being clingy because she knows mommies not feeling well. Kids are like that.

And yes snuggles are the best thing in the world!

Sannah,

I've been absent from this tread for a few days and am so bummed to hear you have been having gallbladder and kidney issues. I pray that by the time you read this you're already starting to feel better.

I know you've been through so much. I'm praying for you and I hope your recovery is swift.

I haven't had WLS yet, but I have had to endure issues with my gallbladder until I finally had it removed. And you are right about one thing, the pain is horrendous.

I would have episodes of n/v in conjunction with dizziness and sweating, followed by diarrhea. Trying to figure out which end to point towards the toilet took a toll on me mentally and physically.

I'm so relieved they found the problem and believe me you will feel 100% better when they remove that little culprit.

Love you lots and I'm sending you some e-roses as a get well gift! @->>>>>, @->>>>>.

Hello Laura,

Your son sounds like a great character!! Did he enjoy the hike anyway? Sounds like a good and fun way to get some exercise is. Any spring break plans? Yes it's weird that he doesn't like the leave the house!! Especially because it sounds like you have great weather!!

I am glad I can offer and be of some support. That is surely nice to know. :)

Oh my Venla is all over the place!! It's so fun!! So cute when I see her walk around the corner!!!

I am using Dalaudid and it is working real good!! I am in less pain and able to function better!! I am currently waiting to hear back from the dr with the lab results from today.

Best,

Sannah

Hi my dear!!

I'm glad your taking the pain meds and they are taking the edge off! Let us know what the labs say ok?

Haha told you Venla would be a busy girl !!

My son is quite a character yes! he is "gifted" which believe it or not comes with a lot of problems on it own. he doesn't relate to a lot of boys his age. And he is not athletic!! So the hike yesterday was trying at times!

When he was younger he wanted to be a mycologist so we could get him to hike a lot and he would identify different kinds of fungus (nerd)

But he's over that now.

It's hard because my husband is EXTREMELY athletic.. And he ended up with me and Ethan :(

Madison used to go out with him rock climbing and mountain biking but she's 16 now so she has other priorities..

Children they are there own little people you never know what your going to get so you just have to strap yourself in and enjoy the ride!

So glad you are feeling better today!!!

Don't forget to let us know!

Laura

HI Sannah,

Did they find out if you passed your kidney stone? I am so thankful they broke mine up so it would be easy to pass. I remember that pain so well before they did that.

Yuck. You have been through way too much. I pray that this is the end of all these troubles you're having.

I hope you're well around the 10th of march when I come up there!

I just read this thread for the first time .. Sannah, you are by far one of the strongest women I have ever encountered .. WOW!! I hope you get better soon . Your definitely in my thoughts and prayers . Kiidney stones are so painful . But, this is just another hurdle that you will leap over. You've gone through so much . I love the way your daughter brightens your day. I have 3 of my own and they are my life. (as I am yelling at them at this present moment:) ) They definitely get me out of the dumps when I'm down . ( so does Laura-Ven , you are funny) I hope you get better soon . Stay strong :) I look forward to following your progress ..

I just caught up on everything Sannah. I was so happy to read of your great recovery continuing and then heart broken to hear you hit another bump (such a nice phrase for sheer hell...but that's what people like to say.....I used to think "bump???? It's a fricking sink hole you ididt" but I never said it).

I hope your labs had some encouraging news. No opening of the leak though and no new ones (that's rare...really rare) so that's good. But dang girlfriend, another night away from your baby :( That's sad and frustrating.

I will be traveling again this weekend (DH and I are taking turns in alaska LOL...never at the same time though) but hope to read something like "I feel better" from you when I return! Hugs dear.

Good evening!!

How has the day treated you! Hanging in there and getting excited? I am surely excited for your journey!! :)

Sounds like having your gallbladder removed was an amazing thing for you. How was your pain level prior to removals.

Thank you for the kind sentiment of e-flowers and gifts. So thoughtful!! Thank you for supporting me writing all these encouraging words. :)

My health can only go up from here!!

Best,

Sannah

Hi!!

I hope your day has been good!!!

I love that your son is a nerd!! Fungus!! That is so great!!! Seems like his neediness is challenging at times!! Oh boy!!! 16 years old. Everyone tells me the teenage years are hard and to be prepared. What's your opinion?

As Venla is walking and talking her personality is blooming. It's so fun to see!!! :)

I am waiting for more lab results. I had to do more labs this am. I have to call back Monday. Until then I am on Dalaudid and all the anti nausea meds. Dalaudid works real good, better than Vicodin and it doesn't make me feel or appear drugged up. Dalaudid doesn't even make me sleepy. I am at least resting comfortably.

We didn't Celebrate the holidays with my in-laws because I was hospitalized. We are supposed to leave Sunday to see everyone and celebrate. My hubby keeps telling me we should cancel. I feel like we should go as long as I can manage my pain. My hubby's grandma is 94. Each day is a big deal, as she is getting to be so old.

All the pain and symptoms are from the gall and kidney stones. :(

I hope your having a great weekend.

Best,

Sannah

Sannah

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
