My cousin had given me the below recipe but I changed it up a bit to be a bit better for me. I added what I do in red, not saying that is how you should do it just giving ideas :) If you make it normal the first time you can trying experimenting like I did until you find the right balance for you. The longest part of this process is peeling the chic peas.

I am not sure how good this is for us but I don't think it is all that bad I do not eat a lot of it although I have made it a few times I take 1 or 2 spoonfuls and am happy it hits that "dessert" spot for me. I am not sure of the nutritional value, never good at figuring it out.

Peanut Butter chocolate Chip Dessert Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chickpeas -
I use the whole can of chick peas 15.5 ounces

  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter -
I also use 1/4 cup of Planters NUTrition Energy Mix banana Granola Nut Peanut Butter, so I use a 1/2 cup or a little more sometimes to add flavor

  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons maple Syrup -
I do not use the whole amount as I think it is a bit much I also go back and forth between Maple Syrup and Agave (what ever I have on hand at the time) - The last time I made this I only used 3 tablespoons

  • 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla extract -
I use the sugar free Torani vanilla and the last time I used about a 1/4 c. to make up for the syrup (next time I think I am going to skip the syrup altogether and just use this.. I'll keep ya'll posted on how that turns out

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips -
I don't use the chocolate chips anymore that is why I started using the banana peanut butter instead it adds flavor

Method:

  1. Drain, measure, wash, and peel your chickpeas. Peeling them isn’t absolutely necessary but it makes for the creamiest hummus and really is worth the effort.
I always peel them no need to measure though since I use the whole can
  2. In a food processor, add the first 4 ingredients and process until the hummus is smooth and emulsified(the one thing no one wants for dessert is chunky chickpea pieces in their dessert).
I only add the chic peas, vanilla and syrup, my blender doesn't like the peanutbutter so I mix that in afterwards by hand or you can use an electric hand mixer, heck ya'll probably have the food processor so it wont be an issue :)
  3. Remove the blade and fold in the chocolate chips. Move into a deep serving bowl and serve with graham crackers or baby carrots.
I do this differently I use a small loaf pan and I actually bake this until the top is a nice golden brown (I place it in the toaster oven on 325 for 10-15 mins) and I let it sit for at least an hour and I eat it like a pie not a dip

I still enjoy sugar free popsicles. Currently' date=' my favorite Snacks are pistachio nuts and orange slices.[/quote']

I was thinking if adding pistachios. How far out are you? I'm almost 8 weeks. Is it too soon?

I'm not allowed nuts until 3 months, but sure and follow your doctor's orders. I think nuts can get stuck in staple line and cause serious issues

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
