Are you all so afraid of the outcome of the upcoming elections that you have to fill up this board with worthless drivel in the hopes of influencing any undecided voters out there? Because if I were an undecided voter, your caustic, hateful remarks and off-topic opinions would sway me the other way.

Well, Bush isn't up for re-election.

Also, I would HOPE that people who are undecided would decide on issues and stances of the politians that are running, not anyone else.

Is this fact or merely your opinion? :D :blah: :pound: :pound: :pound:

By the way, I agree with you.(fact) :) There are many things that sway me (fact) about alot of things. The actions of others associated with the cause is a very big swaying factor at times. Course I'm a heart and not a head type person. So I'm irrelevant.:nervous

If he's so stupid, why do you think he was not only elected once, but also re-elected?

Because he ran a good campaign. Because he told people what they wanted to hear. Because people were tired of the scandals during Dem. Clinton's administration, and were promised a change if Reps were elected. Because many didn't think it was a good idea to change presidents mid-war. Because we don't have a history of making the best choices always in our elections.

Or other reasons I don't know.

I personally don't think he's stupid. I do think he's a terrible leader.

gagetlady: Your weight loss is really commendable! Feel better?

Now as for George W. - the man and the administration are frightful! Congress is an abomination in its' current configuration. These things are not "worthless drivil". They are observations from a bunch of people who are frustrated and disappointed that our president has turned out to be such a self-serving, intellectually inferior, embarrassment to the United States of America. He has hurt this nation in so many ways. We have a right to speak up and in fact, it is patriotic to speak up. I would hate to think that we have all become numb to the political situation in America. Some of us still have hope!

Wow, I come to this site to get support for my weight issues and get this crappy thread. I obviously don't support the views here, but is this the site for this? I guess you all will be more happy when we become a democrat controled socialist state. Good luck with all that!!

Ok Everyone,

I hate to interupt your Bush bashing party, but I just had to reply to this one! Has anyone in this forum ever been the President of The United States of America? I don't believe so, and I highly doubt any one of us will ever be the President. The Presidency is the most difficult job in the entire WORLD! I can fully understand why some people are not happy with the war in Iraq, but I want to point out that we have a volunteer military and everyone knows when they join what they are getting themselves into. I, for one, have a nephew in Iraq who is happy to be there protecting us from having a major war on our own land. He also tells me that every soldier he knows there feels the same way!

Has everyone forgotten about 9/11 and how heartbreaking it was for this nation? I, for one, will never forget those images we all saw on TV with people jumping out of windows and the twin towers falling. It was horrible! It is a proven fact Hussein was providing financial support and other resources to countries training those terrorists, plus some were trained in Iraq!

So there were no weapons of mass destruction when we got there, they had several months to remove them prior to our arrival, because they knew we were coming, just not the exact date. Plus the fact is that they could be buried; Iraq is not a tiny country. They also fit into very small containers because they are so potent. Most believe they are in Syria now; another scary thought. Another fact is our leaders used the same intelligence the rest of the world also believed was true before we went to war. The UN would do nothing, even though Hussein had been denying inspectors into the country for years.

So, bottom line, he is doing what he feels in his heart is right to protect this country. Bottom line, no one here knows the intelligence he hears everyday. Bottom line, our soldiers don't share the opinions expressed in this thread so far.

As for the Dixie Chicks, their opinions and comments have cost them their careers! They had to cancel most of their tour in America because no one wants to go see them, a fact I hate because I like their music. Plus, Natalie Maines is from my home town.

Just some more food for thought here as well. Bill Clinton embarassed this country to the highest degree with his sexual escapade with Monica. What a great role model for the children of our nation!

Actually if the Democrats controlled both houses of congress, the white House and 80% of the Federal court system, I would vote for a Republican.

Power is too corrupting. :help:

I'm thankful all this anger and hatred is directed toward Bush....he's a big man and he can take it. Many said the same things of Ronald Reagan. People do need an outlet to get rid of the nastiness.

I could care less what anyone says. I voted for Bush, I would vote for Bush again, and I'm proud he is our PRESIDENT. As for the Dixie Chicks...I wonder why they can't sell tickets. Hmmm, maybe if they go to another country they could. Wait, they already did.

Oh my goodness, so would I!

But you know, people have a hard time thinking for themselves sometimes, examining an issue, a cause, or a person independently.

He got reelected because of 911. Just prior to that event his popularity was wanning. It surged upward in his support to fight terrorists. Its hard to elect a different President when you are in a war that the majority felt at the time was our only hope of safety. Many bought the hype. THose that didn't, didn't feel confident with Kerry. The reason he was elected in the first place will fill textbooks in the years to come. :D

Also as an aside, we are not defined by the fact that we all have a lapband, or are trying to lose weight. That is just one part of identification. It is only practical that our discussions would be more varied than just topics about the lapband. Those that only want lapband information should not stray from those threads. Those that have other things of interest in their lives may choose to discuss them in a thread properly located on the board.

We have not forgotten 911, but apparently Mr. BuSh has, or how else do you explain why he has 150,000 troops in the wrong country?

If BuSh had been president on December 7, 1941, he would have invaded China.

And nobody has embarrassed this country more than BuSh has. Speak to people from Europe or almost any place else in the world.

Well, Bush isn't up for re-election.

I hope you know I know that.

Also, I would HOPE that people who are undecided would decide on issues and stances of the politians that are running, not anyone else.

I sincerely hope so, too. But I don't think that's the case. I think people are easily swayed by the opinions of others and of mud-slinging -- hence the proliferation of negative ads these days.

There are good and bad politicians on both sides of the aisle. Too often people vote down party lines without looking at the actual politicians involved. I was explaining name recognition to my 9YO daughter the other day when she asked why there were a ton of signs in the grass in front of the supermarket. When I told her some people vote for someone just because they recognize the name, even if they don't know what that person stands for, she announced that that was a stupid way to decide who to vote for. And it is. I'd rather people not vote than vote without understanding the issues.
