  1. Is is just me, or does this title fit a good portion of the people that post in the Rant & Raves? Personally, I am a Heterosexual Conservative, God-fearing Christian, but to each their own. Before you get all froggy & jump, I have many friends from all walks of life & that includes homosexual liberal.....well, I don't know any atheists. Basically, I just wanted a reason to post this pic. Ya'll can Rant & Rave about it. Have fun & I'll enjoy reading.
  2. FOXNews.com - Man Must Pay Partnered Ex-Wife Alimony - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News A man in CA wants his alimony payments to stop b/c his ex-wife has entered into a legal domestic partnership with another woman. Well, a CA judge has ruled for the man to keep paying. I thought same sex marriage was legal in CA. Perhaps I'm wrong. If you consider same sex marriage legal, shouldn't you take the responsibility that goes along with it and be financially responsible for the relationship? So what do you think? Should he still have to pay or should this man be able to stop alimony payments?

    Starbucks and lapbands!

No wonder I get that temporary high after Starbucks. I had no idea that the sugars, carbs, & calories were that high. Scary is an understatement. Thanks for the link.

    I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma

Just may have to pop in there sometime. I don't think Tulsa is too far from OKC. I'll put it to a yahoo map and check it out. Thanks and enjoy your cruise. It sounds like fun.

:pound: Can't say I've seen the fox squirrel, but have seen a flying squirrel. It wasn't eating cheese at the time. I wouldn't put it past a squirrel to eat cheese.

    Joke ~ Running for President

:pound: Three Arkansas surgeons were playing golf together and discussing surgeries they had performed. One of them said, I'm the best surgeon in Arkansas. In my favorite case, a concert pianist lost seven fingers in an accident, I reattached them, and 8 months later he performed a private concert for the Queen of England. The second surgeon said. That's nothing. A young man lost an arm and both legs in an accident, I reattached them, and 2 years later he won a gold medal in track and field events in the Olympics. The third surgeon said, you guys are amateurs. Several years ago a woman was high on cocaine and marijuana and she rode a horse head-on into a train traveling 80 miles an hour. All I had left to work with was the woman's blonde hair and the horse's ass. I was able to put them together and now she's running for President.

    WLS success stories in advertising

It's human nature to have hope and these stupid scams play upon those emotions. "Maybe that could be me" or "I could just try it". That is what the advertisers are counting on. I have to admit that I have pondered some of those scams including the ones where you can make thousands in a couple short days. Reality sinks in pretty quick. For some, reality one hits after the credit card has been charged. :phanvan We also live in a society that has become one of expecting fast results whether it be fast food, JIT (Just In Time) production factories, weight loss, etc. We, as in the general public, have become accustomed to instant satisfaction without having to work for it. Sad but true.

    Frickin' Mosquitos!

We live in OK and the mosquitoes here are big enough to carry away a small child. The best thing we have used to date is Bull Frog found at Wal-Mart. They can't keep it in stock. It also provides sun protection. Mosquitoes are evil.....just evil!!

    So Flippin Mad

<p><p><p>IMO it sounds like your friend may be afraid of your success. After all, if you can get the band and lose weight, it may lessen how she feels about herself (for whatever reason). Jealously is a very strong emotion. Just something to think about. </p> <p> </p> <p>In addition, there are complications of getting in your car and driving every day. <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/loco.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Loco" smilieid="272" class="inlineimg" /> Hang in there and stay focused on you and not what others have to say. <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/hug.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Hug" smilieid="260" class="inlineimg" /><img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/loco.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Loco" smilieid="272" class="inlineimg"

Hi Kim ~ How ya'll doing over your way? I guess when you grow up with parents that say tager instead of tiger and tare instead of tire, ya'll is just part of life. Hey, have you ever been to a doins'? That's what we call a potluck. :biggrin1: Holy cow girl....a BMI under 30?!! I bet it feels so good. We are very proud of you and the hard work you've out into yourself. Overweight sounds so much better than obese. Where oh where is Myra.....and the others?

  12. You know, the band would be much more successful if they could install a band on your brain at the same time.....at least that's what my wife told her surgeon. It's true. I don't believe that old habits are broken, they are just replaced with different habits. This will be a process for you that won't be magically fixed by a surgery. It takes work. Take baby steps and become a sponge to soak up all the info you can. Knowledge is power. You can and WILL be successful. Keep asking questions and remember: "If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got." BTW, a PB is a productive burp. Here's a great link with many other abbreviations: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/abbreviations-what-they-mean-7959/.

    I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma

Howdy from OK. We are recent transplants. My DW had her lapband surgery last May in IN and I'm considering it. I say "considering" it b/c I'm watching her progress. :cry We were wondering if Dr. Keith does fills for other patients if we have her file transferred from IN. Both facilities are "Centers of Excellence". Actually my wife needs a slight unfill. It's difficult for her to get hard Proteins down. :phanvan She's only had 2 fills total without complications. Any info on Dr. Keith would be greatly appreciated. BTW, is there a group meeting in the OKC area?

Tornado Shelters ~ Underground or Saferoom

Well, we ended up with a storm shelter. Glad to have it and hope we never have to use it. We are going to let the boys finger paint in it and allow them to enter the shelter if we're in the garage just so it's "somewhat" familiar to them. The guy that sold us the shelter said he allowed his kids to become acclimated to it in the event they need to use it. To be honest, I think we should have built an ark instead of a storm shelter. :rain: Who knew OK would get so much rain?
  15. We are moving to OK soon and need some feedback from you Texans & Okies with tornado experience......oh, I guess KS is tornado alley too. We just returned from a family trip to find a home and there were 4 touch downs within 2 days. :omg: Looks like a long tornado season for us. We have friends from OH that live in OK now and some have the underground shelters and one has the same room. Not sure which way to go. We signed a one year lease on a home and will be searching for land to build within the next year. We are going to ask the owners of the leased property for permission to install some sort of shelter at our own expense without any expectations of recovering the costs. The way we look at it, it's a small price to pay considering it can save your life, let alone the lives of your children. So.....which do you prefer and why? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Long time, no talk friends. Let me rephrase to say SKINNY friends. Just reading your updates make me smile. Myra, so sorry your having so much trouble. Big hugs & prayers to you! Well, we are pretty much settled in OK and we are loving it. Can't say we are much thinner b/c it's been hard to eat right when surrounded by moving boxes. 3Loves had a fill before we left IN and she needs an unfill. Can't seem to get hard Proteins down and living off of things that are band friendly yet not so healthy. Well, I'm off to do some more reading to catch up on things. Coming to this thread is like coming home. I miss ya'll.....as they say here in OK.

My favorite thread of all time!! It's been awhile. Can't remember if this one has been posted yet & don't want to take the time to look. Pretty good thread killer if you ask me. I know, you didn't ask. :car: Did I hear someone say cheese? Sounds a little pcrazy to me. Did you know that when you cut the cheese after eating cheese that all cheese is not created equal? This is a classic: http://www.720ice.com/pdf/BabypowderFart.mpg

Where are you Missy? Your man is on the pole. Don't you just love these night races? Robin ~ You are too funny. I've never heard of someone giving birth with the race on TV. Hey, it shows the dedication of the true NASCAR fan. Best fans in the world.

Kim ~ LOVE your pic....you are beautiful!! You are going to be in onederland b4 you know it. It's funny how 9 lbs can seem so small and yet so big at the same time. You'll get there!! Neal ~ We ended up in the Yukon/Mustang area. Edmond was too much of a drive for work considering the traffic. We love the easy access to OKC and the small town feel you get in Yukon. I have to say we are really impressed with the down-home feel and the friendly people that don't even know you from Adam. I swear the guy from the drive-thru at Starbucks chatted for 5 mins. We are going to love it. The moving company comes next week for the estimate then we will schedule the move within the next couple of weeks. Lapbandit ~ Super NSV on the new clothes!! Great time of year to go shopping too. Amy ~ Have fun shopping. Does you DH get a new suit? Hey Myra ~ How's the wagon ride.....are you back on yet? I hear you on the junk food. It seems to go down way too smooth. 3Loves told her surgeon he forgot the band on her brain. Food can really mess with that tummy/brain connection!! Give us an update on how your doing.

Who does Number 2 work for?

My advice is to not push it. Contrary to popular belief (at least in our extended family) it doesn't have anything to do with your parenting skills or anything you are doing wrong. They won't poop until they are ready to do so. Our son was 4 when he finally decided to poop in the the toilet and actually, it was LBT that helped. Here's the link to the thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16640 Someone on this thread recommended that you show them what poop looks like coming out with a tube of toothpaste. They are afraid it will hurt if they aren't hunkered down in a corner somewhere. This can show them how easy it is. Gross, I know, but as parents, we do what we can. I would not recommend any form of punishment or ridicule. This can damage their self esteem and prolong the process. Just be encouraging and loving no matter where they poop and potty training will come when they are ready. I wish you the best and hang in there!!

    R U a NASCAR Fan...Let's Talk!

Any Montoya fans out there? It should be interesting to see if this thing with Smoke turns into a rivalry. Seems like the normal learning curve for the rookies coming into the cup series. They think they're hot stuff then mess with the wrong guy. Lessons are learned very quickly in NASCAR.

Tornado Shelters ~ Underground or Saferoom

Yeah, I remember as a young boy in Dayton, OH watching the system go through that put down the Xenia tornado. I was out on the front porch with my dad and it was fascinating and scary at the same time. That is something that will always stick with me. My wife, 3Loves, says it's not optional and we must install a shelter. I'm sure we'll be glad we did. We are leaning toward an underground garage shelter. The cost will be around $3K. I guess you can call us northern sissy's. I'm sure it's different for those of you that have grown up in the area. It's just like anything else your used to. We would prefer a basement (which we've always had) but it's our understanding you don't find many basements in OK and the reason has something to do with the red soil. I hear it's very expensive to put in a basement and it take a lot of extra work to make sure it doesn't leak. Anyone want to share some thoughts on that? I would be interested to hear what you natives have to say.....is there truth to this? Thank you all for your replies and Poodles, I love the domes. LOTR is an all-time favorite!!

Hello Friends ~ It's good to catch up all your skinny faces! BTW, good look for you Neal. Well, we had a wonderful trip together in OK and found a home. Our IN home is up for sale and it's been crazy showing the house, traveling to OK, and keeping up with everything. 3Loves is down 12 lbs since her last fill. Things have been going slow since getting back from OK and she is struggling to focus on eating right. We are planning on moving around month end or early May. Kim ~ Thanks for sharing the info. I will print it out and read the entire thing when I have more time. What I've read so far sounds really positive and just what we need to hear right now. Did I hear someone say chocolate??
  24. Bless your little heart. I can't imagine facing so many challenges at one time. You will get through this by focusing on you and following your doctors orders. This will look like a hiccup in the larger picture of life. Remember, God always puts you at the perfect place at the perfect time. You are going to be fine!! Also, doing research such as posting here for feedback is a great tool for healing. I am like a sponge and want to gather input from those who've been there as well as the experts. Read and learn as much as you can about blood clots. In addition, follow the band rules. Before you know it, you will be the shining example others turn to in their time of need. Keep you chin up & stay strong!! Also, keep up posted on how your doing. You have a great network here at LBT.

    May Bandsters~March Chat!

Well, I'm glad to report a loss this week of 6 whopping pounds since the fill (last Mon). Now, why didn't she do that sooner? Myra ~ Thank U so much for posting the letter from Diane. It was great to here some news about her. If you get the chance, please tell her there are many on here that care a great deal for her and would love to see her post when she is up to it. Now on to you......HOLY COW.....you have some AWESOME NSV's!! You are on you way....you little elliptical "sprinter". :biggrin1: BTW, my entire family is going to be in your neck of the woods next week. We are going to be looking for homes, schools, & such. Can't wait to hook up with you. Maybe sometime late summer?? Kim ~ You poor thing. :cry I just hate to hear about you going through that. I hope my DW stays a PB virgin :nervous, but I do understand the concept of eating too fast & not paying close enough attention. It's so easy to do. Did you drink some aloe vera juice afterward? Are you doing alright now? Any lasting effects? Take care my friend. Drews ~ Maybe you do need some more Protein since you have intense workouts at derby practice. Try a Protein shake b4 your practice or an Isopure. Not that familiar with sparkpeople, but have your tried listing your food intake at fitday.com? It will give you a break down of the Proteins & such so you'll know exactly what your taking in. Another thought is that you have had a tremendous success with your band and perhaps your body is just leveling off for awhile. Let us know how things go. :phanvan Regarding your side note.....I have felt the same way for a long time now. It's been the same stuff for months. Unfortunately, a good bit of the time, it's lopsided. Even kept me from posting. I guess the R & R serves it's purpose and keeps the fingers flying on keyboards. :tired
