wonder which word they bleeped out. You will have to leave a space in between the letters so we can see how you want to dress!

Isn't that nuts that they bleep that out. It's not even a bad word. It's not even a swear word. There are some 4 letter words that I see no reason to use on the board, but some it just seems childish to **** it out.

if my husband's name was D I C K and I wrote D**k, I'd never be able to use his name!

hahahaha... sorry, it's just funny that the words are actually being censored. Anyhow, I am 56, have had total knee replacement 3 times (right knee was screwed up the 1st time), a foot rebuilt, and I don't exercise at all. Yes, I am stupid and lazy. I've also been dealing with surgery & chemo & radiation for uterine cancer so, weightloss has kind of taken a back seat. Even so, I have lost a LOT of weight in the past 11 months and I am so happy that I got the sleeve. I don't think I would have had the strength to deal with all of this if I was still 100 lbs heavier than I am now. So, the weight will continue to come off and exercise if you can when you can. You will just start doing more the more weight you lose because it doesn't hurt to walk or stand any more!

I'm 64 I had my sleeve done on April 5th. I have lost a total of 70 lbs. since I started my jouney. The excersice I prefer is the stationary bike. I'm able tout on a recorded tv show and pedal away. I usually go 15-20 mins. at one time. just moderate pace. Hope this helps.

Outrigger!

I'm 59 and most of the posts I read from post-op people -- be they under 40 or in their sixties are VERY good!!

Could it be that you are just scared? We all feel (regardless of age) at least a little nervous about such a big step.

Or, could it be that you still good enough that such a drastic response isn't something you really want? (Just trying

to get to the root here).

Either way you chose -- YOU are the one to chose decisions -- don't let ANYone pressure you (including me!)

God Bless you Hon,

WeeWers

Don't give up! I was 65 when I was sleeved in Nov. I was 225.5 at my highest and weighed 158.4 today. My youngest is 39 and I finally weigh less than my husband and less than I weighed when she was born. Walked a 5k a week ago for the first time!!

Now have lost over 95% of my goal weight. Wearing 8P short which I have never worn. How is everyone else doing? Had a hard time finding this thread.

I am doing great. After 4 years, I had gained 15 lbs back. I was so upset. I have taken all but 3 lbs of my regain off. I'm going to get back to 135 if it kills me!

I've just finally learned not to graze and have one planned snack after dinner.

Maintenance is not a free for all! I found out the hard way.

Almost 64 and the process (surgery) was a piece of cake. or easy as pie? (oops, food porn). I have lost 100# from my highest weight, am 5 months out, and now losing at from 1 to 3# a week. No rush, I got the time...

The research says that the sleeve is fine for up to (at least) age 70...

I am 68 and 3.5 weeks out. I have lost 14 lbs. since my pre op weight. I had a complication so I really feel I am only 2 weeks out. I expect that I may lose a bit slower than the younger folk on the forum. I have not began my exercise program yet because I was just released to drive, etc yesterday. I plan to attend my Silver Sneakers exercise program as they have a one hour chair based exercise and then I will walk on the treadmill for as long as I'm comfortable. Based on my doctor's goal I have 100 lbs to lose. I figure I will do this journey at about 2/3 the pace of the young folk. LOL

I'm not sure mine was at a slower rate. See the surgeon on Monday for my 1 year check-up. I'm over 95% of Excessive Weight Loss and I will be 67 in Jan.

I'll let you know what he says!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
