Congratulations!!! I am almost 4 weeks post op and I feel out of this world. The best advice I can give is start practicing your life style now, start weighing your foods, practice eating very slow and drinking often and KEEP POSITIVE. You will do awesome!

I am 2 weeks post op. I have lost 40 lbs. I feel good. Getting tired of drinking shakes. Order them before your surgery. I like the "Pure Protein Shake". Get them on Amazon. Start counting your protean. Look at labels. Always choose more protean and less sugar. I start on blended food this Friday. I am 59 mext month and am doing fine. Go for it. It will let you live longer.

Hi, we all have that nervous scared feeling.. I had it too.. im 12 days post op.. Im became a very strict label reader.. I could not tolerate the Protein Shakes anymore.. but what does work for me is an isolate whey Protein Drink I got from Vitamin world.. comes in flavors..and its considered a clear liq cuz you can see thru it.. its rather tasty too.. Im 53 and doing great.. cant wait to get where alot of the others are at.. I will tell you the roughest week is the first week.. but after that.. smooth sailing.. rough in the sense that you still think with your head.. it wants to eat but you arent hungry.. head hunger.. and there will be some pain too.. so make sure you get some pain meds to help ease that.. but most of all.. its a 2nd chance to be healthy. Im going to get there and stay there no matter what.. be strong and hang out here. its a great support system. great ideas and some new friends.. alot of experiences with things here too.. what works.. what didnt work for each and everyone who comes here.. everyone is different.. Best of luck to you.. hope to talk to you soon.. there is a chat forum here too that we all go to and talk.. its great.. good luck :) you will soon be on that journey to a new you and a new life.. :)

Hello Island Son!

I am 40 and also preop. I will get my surgical date on Friday. As it gets closer I am also getting more nervous but still way excited. I have started doing as recommended above. trying new Protein supplements (some are way gross) and using www.myfitnesspal.com to count my food and stay on track. It's great! It's free too. Best of luck to you and here's to a great and healthy 2013 for us both! Dee

Everyone's tastes are different when it comes to Protein. What you like pre surgery may change post surgery. Shop for samples. You can find them on Amazon for sure.

glad to have you on board. i'm working myself through the process as well and looking to it.

is that your bike in the profile photo? if so i'm sure it will be a lot easier to ride without a belly in the way :) every 20lb you lose makes a seriously noticeable difference in how fast a motorcycle will get up and go.. trust me! good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
