one year out and I too have days of not wanting to eat - nothing appeals to me - the next day I eat normally.

I am grateful for this as I don't want to gain any weight - I need to loose 20lbs more and stepping up the game right now.

Wow, I thought I was the only one that experienced this feeling. Some days, I feel so much restriction and can't eat but a few bites. However, other days I can eat about 2/3 cup of food. I am glad I still have this restriction because at times I feel I am stretching my sleeve.

3+ years out here and have the exact same feelings. sometimes i amaze myself with the tiny amounts i eat, but then there are days i really amaze myself with the large amount that i can fit in there. But it's not bad, at least i haven't gained anything over the holidays. now i'm trying to loose that last 20 lbs. . . talk about work

Is it that you don't want to eat or that you feel discomfort?

I still don't feel hunger at more than two years out (and pregnant) so I can relate to that. I can still easily skip a meal without intending to do so. But I enjoy food and I like eating when I do eat. It's no longer a chore to me - I feel like I have a more normal, healthy relationship with food. Whenever I get the idea that I'm eating too much food I track and realize that I'm still eating a very limited diet compared to a person with no sleeve.

As for quantity, yes, I still sometimes feel as though I can't possibly eat enough food. On a very lucky day I can fit over a cup of food but most of the time I'm limited to 1/2 to 1 cup of food, and that's only if it's not a meal comprised solely of dense Protein. Or Pasta...or rice...or bread, because those foods still fill me up after a few bites! But if I allowed myself to compare what I'm eating to what the people around me eat, I would probably feel that I'm hardly eating at all.

What's important is that I'm eating enough. Between regular meals, Snacks and supplementing with a shake I am still able to eat a reasonable diet and I'm healthy. Before my pregnancy I maintained my weight pretty effortlessly and wasn't struggling either to gain or losing.

So I'd ask the OP to share a bit more so that we can see if this is something that needs a doctor's help (such as physical discomfort eating this far out) or if it's something normal that a lot of us experience.

I'm almost two years out and I'm always hungry.

I'm 18 months out and feel the same way. I reached goal in April and maintained within a 2lb up or down range for 8 months. But something happened in December. It seemed like I could eat anything and everything with no restriction. And what I thought was real hunger. Woke up on Jan 1 with the scale up 11.4 lbs.

Got back to basics and in 4 days lost 8 of the 11.4 (assume most of it was Water weight)

The lesson learned reinforces that this is a lifelong journey and I have to be dilligent with what I put into my mouth every day for the rest of my life...

Actually it's a small sacrifice for my health (and looking amazing!)

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
