PreciousCargo got a reaction from Mskitty122072 in Anyone Have Headaches Post Op?My headaches are caused by being dehydrated. The doctor said to stop focusing on eating and worry about my fluids. I get a lot of my protein from drinking milk which counts towards my fluid intake. It is challenging every day to drink but it has helped my headaches.

PreciousCargo got a reaction from Lakeshia Blitzer in I Cheated On My Pre Gastric Sleeve Surgery Gastric Sleeve Surgery Diet... Should I Be Nervous Now?I cheated on my pre op and still lost the 10 % required for my surgery. Actually the doctor said I had the perfect liver and there were no complications other than my negative reaction to the medicine. I am now one week post op and have been able to manage fine on the post op diet, however my diet isnt normally that others follow. We are all human and mess up, each of us are different. I say we didnt become overweight overnight. Good luck and stay positive.

PreciousCargo reacted to Butterthebean in 60 Grams Of Protein In A ServingHere's a great article that explains how much protein can be absorbed in one sitting.
http://www.livestrong.com/article/487366-how-many-grams-of-protein-can-body-absorb-in-one-sitting/
Here's the crux of it pertaining to Protein shakes.
"One of the factors that can affect protein digestion is what you are eating because it takes longer for the body to digest a whole protein source, such as chicken, than it does to digest a liquid Protein source, such as a whey Protein shake. For example, it takes a whey protein shake about one hour and 30 minutes for the body to digest. The rate of whey protein digestion is about 10 g per hour, meaning your body will absorb about 15 grams of whey protein during the time it is digested. A larger meal with protein will take longer for the body to digest, meaning your body may absorb more protein during that time. How much protein is absorbed depends on your body and the type of food eaten, as Proteins found in Beans are less digestible than whey protein."
So basically, trying to drink 60 grams of protein in one shot is not going to be effective.

PreciousCargo reacted to innerme in 60 Grams Of Protein In A ServingMy understanding is that your body is unable to absorb over 40 grams of protein at a time so anything over that is wasted. I might be wrong but I remember reading about it and talking to my nutritionist about it and she agreed. I was interested in doing this with my protein drink but my nutritionist sd it wd be a waste and stick with the 35 g of protein I get with 1 scoop.

PreciousCargo got a reaction from mommy794 in Share Goal Weight Fantasy... Evil Ones Welcome ;-)I would like to weigh 145 pounds, have a perfect flat tummy with perky breasts, round ass and hair flowing down my back. I want to be walking down the beach with a new love in daisy duke shorts with a tank top on while my ex-husband (who bought me a pig once and made some oinking noises telling me that I reminded him of a their species) is standing with his latest bimbo longing to be with me again. Actually, he did me a favor by cheating on me so maybe I dont want him wanting me again.

My fantasy is that me and my wonderful husband of 32 years could be dropped of on a deserted island for about a month and live off of nothing but love, kinda like the Blue Lagoon, only no baby!
-
I love all of these fantasies!! I'll share a real-life experience, just to keep it real.
When I was in college (early 30's) I worked at a prison and I had a HUGE crush on one of the officers. He thought it was cute and amusing and basically teased me with it the whole time I worked there and for years afterwards. Recently I posted a picture of me on Facebook and he started messaging me again, privately, wanting to see if he could rekindle the spark. I flirted a bit, but turned him down. He's so last decade!

PreciousCargo got a reaction from HalfTheWoman in Why Gain It Back? There was a girl at work who had the lap band surgery the same time I had my surgery. The other day I was speaking to her about the success of her operation. I dont see much of a change in her. She said she wasnt losing the weight she wanted to and started resorting to taking diet pills. I was astonished, why have the surgery if you are going back to the same lifestyle as before. I believe that we become relaxed in our dietary consumptions and fell back into the same trap. For several weeks I found myself eating fat free sugar free fudge popsicles constantly. I didnt gain any weight but I had to ask myself, why? I had to rethink and reevaluate my eating habits. I dont want to gain the weight I have lost. I feel wonderful but I can see how it is easy to fall back into that trap. It will be a struggle, we are food addicts and we need to focus on what makes us want to eat and how we can redirect our atttention to other outlets.

PreciousCargo reacted to Supersweetums in Why Gain It Back?I think for some people, the weight loss is so easy, they never have to work at it a little. They still eat everything they were eating in small amounts and still lose weight. There was one in our support groups that was always eating fries and poutine but said, Oh, I only eat a few. And she lost all her weight really quickly. After a while, all the french fry eating caught up with her and she started gaining back. There are also a lot of habits and emotional issues when it comes to eating. Without dealing with those and gaining some control, you can sabotage yourself, even with the sleeve.
It is important to remember that the sleeve (like the bypass) is just a tool. You still have to learn to eat healthier and get active to be truly successful. The only thing is there are some differences between the sleeve and the bypass. Many patients with the sleeve do not gain back weight, or a small amount (10% of what was lost is typical). The bypass leaves a pouch with the stretchy part of the stomach which can be stretched out easily as one eats more and more and more. The sleeve is significantly less stretchy, so you always retain a fair amount of restriction. The sleeve also takes out the portion of the stomach that produces ghrelin, the hunger hormone. You still have some, so don't expect to never feel hungry (some people do, some don't, I sometimes feel hungry, but not the same as before). The bypass leaves the entire stomach intact, thus your body continues to produce ghrelin.
It is not a magic bullet.
love the World According to Eggface, and my favorite quote from her is "Weight loss surgery is not a do-over (repeat the same mistakes = get a similar outcome.) Weight loss surgery is a do-better (make some lifestyle changes you can continue forever.)"

PreciousCargo reacted to MKambalimath in "goal Clothing"I purchased an XL shirt last week. Im in a Womens 2x thats a little loose right now. Its a 3/4 sleeve from WalMart that was on clearance for $1, LOL. I figured it would be cute in the fall. Its funny that I look at buying clothes for me right now the same way I look at buying for my 3 yr old son. Trying to guess what the size will be next to get things on clearance

PreciousCargo got a reaction from chicagochic in My Success In Hair Loss....First I want to state this is my success and mayn't necessarily work for you....
!st important factor as we all know is Protein and plenty of it, if you have difficult eating your allotted amount as I do try various Protein drinks. I personally vomit all protein drinks except the unjury chicken flavor Protein powder.
2nd important factor is plenty of Water. It is important to stay hydrated throughout the day.
That being said here is the formula I use every day. My only regret is not beginning sooner, like right after my surgery.
Oh, and just a quick reminder, we average a loss of one hundred strands of hair a day, just an important fact to make you feel slightly better.
Every morning and evening I take one Biotin 7500mg.
I condition my hair with Nioxin every nite and shampoo twice a week with Nioxin. Sally Beauty's store sells Nioxin in a off brand called Nutri-ox, it works just as well and saves some money.
Afterwards I use Doo Gro (found at Sally's Beauty), which is an ethnicity lotion that is used as an leave-in product (some of the ingredients are oat protein, shea butter, beeswax, etc.), combined with Argan oil treatment, use both sparingly.
This combination has worked for me and may help one of you. Of course we all of varying opinions if any of these products really do work, however I can say honestly it has for me.
Good Luck
