HOORAY! Maybe now we can begin to stop the last greatest human rights violation of our time in the United States!

If I ever get divorced from my husband, I will marry a woman! Yes I will!

How DARE the government tell me who I can or can't marry (as long as it's consenting adult!)

I knew it was WRONG to deny Gay people the right to get married when I was four years old! I wanted to marry my best friend Kristin and my mom said I couldn't because two girls could not get married and I was like "WHAT?!?!?! WHY NOT?????????? WTF???"

GAY MARRIAGE NOW!!!

Same sex marriage is legal up here in Canada. This right was made law by our previous government. We are used to gay couples getting wed. Now our new Conservative government is threatening to open this up to another vote. It seems that a lot of those guys don't approve.

Congratulations to New Jersey, eh.

Congrats! And I truly do not understand why anyone would oppose gay marriage. Most of the excuses have to do with religion which has no place in politics. Seperate church from state and the problem goes away. Anyway how can God, who unconditonaly loves everyone make acceptions?

I agree. If two adults want to get married, why should anyone care what gender they are?

Another New Jerseyan here applauding the decision!! Of course, it remains to be seen what our legislature comes up with by way of regulations, but at least the principle has been affirmed. State-sponsored discrimination is FINALLY going to go the way of the dodo....someday.

I already know this is going to not set well with alot of you, but got too do it. For those who believe in the Bible here is some answers to this. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 1 Timothy 1:10 Romans 1:24-27 This comes for the Bible not my judgements. Love the sinner, not the sin.

I go back and forth on this. No I don’t believe that same sex MARRIAGE is right. Notice the emphasis on marriage. I have had this discussion with a gay friend. We have both come to the conclusion that if the word marriage was dropped, and replaced with union, most would not have a problem with it. Biblically, marriage was created by God to be between a man and a woman. The bible does say (many times) that relations between same sex people is a sin. On the other hand, Danny and Joey have been together for 15+ years and their relationship is stronger than most heterosexual couples I know. They do share a great love for one another that is evident to anyone who meets them and I believe that they should be able to have a binding ceremony that would make it "legal". Not only in the eyes of the law, but in the eyes of the IRS.

The state and the church are separated. When the state performs a marriage this is a civil contract. When a church performs the marriage this contract is both civil (because the state recognizes the validity of the marriage) and religious. I see nothing wrong with the state agreeing to same sex marriages since this does not infringe upon religious law. In fact I think that this is a humane response on the part of the state; we now know that homosexuality is not merely a lifestyle choice. The latest scientific evidence indicates that homosexuals are born that way. Why deny this group the same rights that the rest of us have?

In Canada same sex marriages are legal. Most churches will not marry same sex couples nor are they required to. There are a few who will, however.

You might be interested to know that the state of France does not recognize religious marriages. Couples there have to get married twice, once in a church and again in the town hall.

Church and state are supposed to be separate, but as a true measure of freedom it's lacking.

I was thrilled to read the news. Let's hope other states can be as smart. Love is love.

There are two kinds of marriage - civil and religious. The government controls both, however, since they require people to take out a marriage license and in the case of a same sex couple, no license will be issued. And a marriage performed without a license is not legal. I have a problem with this.

My church will never perform or recognize same sex marriage, and that's okay. They are a church, not the state. If you want to belong to my church and you are a gay couple, that's just too bad. Go find one that accepts your lifestyle.

The government, on the other hand, does not get to interpret the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, or the How To Be A Buddhist Handbook. Neither the state of Texas nor the US government can require that I wear a veil over my face in public, although traditional Muslims may think I should. They can't make me keep a Kosher kitchen, even though conservative Jews might feel that would be a good thing.

Before you vote to make religious beliefs into law, remember that yours isn't the only religion around. And the fact that you think yours is the only "right" one is immaterial. Everyone else believes theirs is, too.

I realize that many Christians believe homosexuality is a sin. And they have every right to believe so, I don't have a problem with that.

Right up until they decide that everyone should live by their beliefs, and want it backed up by the law.

That is what is wrong with the world today though, if the word of God was in practice there would be no doubt on any of these matters. Of course that would be in an unrealistic view. I know for myself God is everywhere......That has not one thing to do with religion. There is only one right way and that is through the Bible, follow that and nothing else really matters.

It does not matter what I think about same sex marriage, but what God thinks.

So would you support what is in the bible guiding the laws for the US?

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
