Gained 4 lbs and bummed

Recommended Posts

Nov 7th was my surg date. I have not stepped on the scale in 3 weeks. Been trying to get all my Protein in. And today I step on the scale and gained 4 lbs. I heard of the stall, but the gain? I am do bummed because I'm going to my doc in one week and I will be so embarrassed when I step on that scale. Anyone have this happen?

My stall came with a weight gain, too. It was close to 3 pounds, I think? Since then I've had mostly loss, but occasionally I'll have a couple days where I don't lose, or a day where I put on a pound and take it right back off the next day. Bodies are strange >.>

So very glad to hear this...I have gained two pounds and I'm a month out. Kinda nervous

The first month can be screwy. A lot of people gain weight from anesthesia. You gain Water weight. Constipation from pain medications can also keep the scale from moving as much as normal.

Keep on doing what you know is right. Don't let the scale be your enemy!

If your doc judges you, give him hell!

Yes I had weight gain after my first month out 3 lbs then I started losing again and started losing a pound a day for almost 2 weeks then it stopped and I gained 6 freaking lbs grrrr and 2 weeks later I'm slowly going down again that's where I'm at now, I don't mind the stalls "well I don't like them" but I can't stand when I gain, just know it will won't last for ever and you will start back losing again. :-) Hope this helps.

I am one who weighs every day (yeah I know you shouldnt) but what I have learned from it is that I never really stress about it. I am 2 mos. postop and there have been days that i gain 1-3 lbs at a time and hold it for a couple of days, then start dropping again. It is Fluid Im sure. Overall, thought, you can see the trend down

I also measure every month on my sleeversary date and lose inches even when scale doesnt move too much. (-:

Thanks everyone! It's so funny because I made the decision not to go on the scale and do my best and not be stressed. Oh well that back fired. Maybe I need to step on that scale every couple of days to remind myself of the progress.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer me I really appreciate it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
