All doctors are different with pre ops. If you are concerned I would call your surgeon or nurse and talk to them about your concerns to put your mind at some ease :). Congrats on the surgery!!!

I did not have to do one, I thought that was good but found that the only one thing about this looming over me was the option to over eat and I was bothered allot by the idea that I will not have the same oportunities post op. Still have a few days to go, down more pounds than up.

All doctors are different. Also, mine didn't tell me about what he wanted me to do until my final check up before surgery. So, maybe she/he hasn't told you yet.

I had a couple of classes, blood work, and a sleep study. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? My surgeon said they don't require a lot of tests for younger patients

I don't have a pre-op diet either, my surgery date is 12/20, I specifically asked about it and was told only not to eat after midnight the night before... I've done a few searches here on the message boards and I've found a few people that did not have one, from what I've read none of them had any complications because of this...

My surgeon stated he would use a pre op liquid diet only if the patient was so large that the surgery tools would not work correctly, he went on to say after numerous surgeries he finds no real need otherwise.

I had my last visit with my surgeon yesterday-- I don't have a pre-op diet either. I asked because he did not mention it and he nope. It is kind of a relief ..... I plan on having a few last favorite meals with my husband....my surgery is 12/21.

Good luck!

Its a good point that there be readiness from a pre op diet for post op needs, I thought of if I did have such a pre op diet that would be so, the only thing though I need worry is that I do not or did not slip into a gray area where because I can do what I wanted I just don't diet at all. It was recommended that I try and lose but not gain during pre op weeks. My conclusion was to thinking that, I will have weeks of it after just the same, and the life style won't be harder to obtain eiher way in the end.

I think the pre-op or no pre-op diet has something to do with your BMI before surgery. I know people who used my surgeon who had to do pre-op diet, but I did not. It has something to do with a fatty liver.

I didnt have a preop diet either,Dr said the reason some drs do it is to lose some of the fat around the liver before surgery. He said it really isnt necessary, the surgeons think it makes it easier for them during surgery, not to have to move the fat around, but he said its not difficult.thats why hr doesnt require it

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
