I would suggest hitting the Water alot, walking at least 30 minutes or more and WATCH what you eat! I am in the same boat as you. My doctor said I have to lose 10 lbs or he will cancel mine as well. BUT I know we can do this! (I don't even have a surgery date yet but I am doing the sleep study Monday and after that I'm sure I'll have some news hopefully!) I have the hardest time watching what I eat! But I am determined and I know I can do it if I put my mind to it!! And so can you!! You have a beautful family and I know they are rooting for you!

Look this is soooooo worth it that if for 10lbs you were to miss this huge opportunity well ill consider other choices. I'll be honest I got it done thinking it was going to be easier. Well, it's not. I get it now when they told me is only a tool but you will always remain on a diet. So do it now cuz it gets harder. Sorry but I'm telling u the truth

If you do a low, low carb diet, you can do it. I'm talking anorexic Atkins kind of low, low carb. This will completely deplete your glycogen stores in your body. Glycogen stored in your muscle tissue bonds with Water with a 4 to 1 ratio which means for every pound of glycogen you lose, you will also lose 4 pounds of Water for a net total of 5 pounds. 2 pounds of glycogen lost, you have your 10 pounds. Carbs are easily converted to Glycogen.

This is why those of us who did Atkins always dropped 10 pounds the first week or so, but then couldn't budge.

Queengamz if you don't regularly work out be careful.... You can sometimes gain when you first start working out. I have to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery, yesterday I was down 12 lbs, my surgery is Monday. You can do this....keep your eyes on the prize-a healthy, happy you!!

Do low carb like a mofo! You can do it! Don't let yourself have more than 20 carbs a day and you will lose it forsure!

I would think the doctor telling me that would be enough motivation.

It really comes down to how much you want it.

Go on your Protein Shakes and small salads now. You'll be surprised how fast you'll drop weight, you'll get to try out different shakes to find what you like, and do as much calorie-burning exercise as you can. Above all, be stubborn in your desire for the surgery! I can stick to any diet short term, and a week may seem like an eternity while you're in it, but will be over soon and you'll be on your way to your new sleeve!

10 pounds by December 12th? EASY. Just do a VLCD and stick with it. After the first 4 or 5 days it becomes easy. I'm currently waiting on my Protein to arrive and then I will be doing 800 calories a day until my March surgery date.

My plan is to do three scoops of Protein in fat free milk giving me 110 grams of protein and adequate potassium which is something most multivitimins lack. I'm also taking a prenatal multivitim divided into two doses so I'm taking half the dose in the morning and half the dose in the afternoon. One Vitamin b complex capsule, and one vit d3 tablet with magnesium. I'm also doing one kale/lemon/ginger shot sweetened with stevia per day. I don't recommend this unless you're an experienced juicer. Kale shots can be very hard on the tummy if you're not used to them. Ordinarily I'd put some green apple and an orange with the kale and enjoy it as a yummy juice, but I can't do the carbs right now because I want to be in ketosis.

I've done a 30 day juice fast in the past, and I've also done also a high protein liquid VLCD in the past and I can tell you that it's NOT that bad.. particularly when you have a goal in sight. Once you resign yourself to not eating, it goes easy. You only have to do it for TWO WEEKS... that's NOTHING. You GOT THIS!

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
