Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Recommended Posts

8 days and counting before the big day! I noticed that alot of you all are preop before surgery. My doctor didn't put me on any restrictions before surgery. So I am hoping everything turns out okay for me! Has anyone else doctor did the same as mine?

nope not here my doc said it depends on you weight it is usualy a 2 week pre op liquid diet , but for some reason he wants me on a 3 week pre op diet ,, i start mine on sat .. i cant believe you have no diet the whole reason for the diet is to shrink the liver and make it limp so it dosnt crack when they have to move it out of the way to get to you stomach.. hmm if i were you id comfirm that and ask questions.. and if he still says no call around to other docs and just ask if they put their paients on a diet.. and then i would just put myself on one regardless because i dont think i wanna be in their alot longer then i have to while they repair my liver or maybe they wont even be able to do the surgery ive hurd of that happening as well.. anyway i wish you all the luck and please let me know how it goes either way,... :)

My doctor didn't put me on a pre-op diet either but his reasoning was that I was on the smaller side to have this (bmi of about 38-39) and he didn't feel it was necessary. The nurse at the hospital highly recommended I do liquids the day before to be safe so I would recommend doing that. Her thought was... It can't hurt and we have really good results with that. So I followed her advice.

I was sleeved fri feb 1st so I'm 6 days post-op. I have no regrets but do want to warn that when I woke up in recovery my chest felt like a 500-lb. Man was sitting on it. I hadn't seen anyone else warn about that so in case it happens to you, you're not alone. I do haft say it gradually got way better over the next couple hours but I was in a bit of panic when I woke up in that much pain. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired so I don't know if maybe that had something to do with the pain.

Anyway my doctor told me if I felt hungry and was digesting ok, I could start full liquids before the 2nd week so I had a protien shake last night and all went well. I'm going to try some Greek yogurt later and see how that goes. I have a follow up with my doctor today so well see how that goes.

Good luck and quick recovery to everyone who's going through it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
