I Dont Kno Any More- Bmi

Recommended Posts

So i was suppose to have surgery mid this month but that wasnt going to happen because as i found out mild obtructive sleep apnea doesnt qualify. WHAT! So u want it o get severe. On top of that i had a bmi of 36.5 and no comorbilities yet. Ok so i was about to give up but my friend was like no dont. Ive left the issue b for a few months and my bmi went up to 38.5. So i gained weight. It drives me crazy cuz i have to be in a 40 bmi to get it and im in the middle no comorbility but obese. Damn i feel like trowing in the towel n saying f*ck it but my other side tells me no. I dont kno i feel discouraged.

Don' t be discouraged. With this surgery you have to have the issues inorder to qualify. Your lucky that you don't have the serious health problems. Just keep doing what your doing and when your BMI hits 40 you should qualify. I know better than anyone else that losing weight is important. I could lose it before this surgery, but I always gained it back. What does your doctor say?

He said come back when u qualify. When my bmi is 40. I kno it sounds strange but its hard not to feel sad when u want somehing so much.

Have you thought of going self pay in Mexico? I don't qualify with my insurance company, but I don't see putting the stress of gaining the extra wgt on my body or my mind. I mean how damning is that for them to tell you. Hey go out gain the 20lbs then come back!!! Insurance in the US sucks!!! This should be done as a preventive measure before we get so fat we can't move!!! Sorry for the rant...this aspect of our waltz are system just pisses me off. Anyway I decided to go to Mexico to have it done. Much more affordable than it is in the US.

I understand how disappointed you are. Don't give up.

I had to put my surgery on hold right after I was approved my insurance because found out I have breast cancer. Oncologist says it will be at least 7 months before wls.

I was told to gain 5lbs to get covered without comorbids. I was a little shocked that the surgeon office told me that. But I did and got approved.

Being someone who nearly died having this surgery, I read this with a little bit of shock and horror....you want to gain a significant amount of weight to have it covered? Honestly, that's just so wrong. It's hard on your body to gain weight quickly and it's not going to help you long term with your weight issues.

I know you want it, but the reason insurance companies don't cover it is because it should be a last resort. I think you'd be better off trying with serious commitment something that will enhance your life, not hurt it, as trying to get up to a 40 bmi will.

In addition, most insurance companies want a documented history at that BMI to cover, not just one good fat day on the scale. Your medical history will clearly cover that you gained weight to have the insurance coverage. So if they then deny....where on earth will you be? Even heavier with no prospects :( It's just not sound thinking dear.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
