Wow thats a lot of hours sorry u had to due tests again. Its so nice to meet a fellow cosmetologist :) R u pre op or post? My date is Jan 8th.

I am pre. My date is January 11! I'm so excited, as I'm sure you are, also. :) and a fellow cosmetologist!!

At least I didn't have to take all the class hours again. That's what they stated initially but I appealed and it worked out. Taking the tests was the easy part. But, it's amazing the "textbook" material you don't account for daily. But, I passed them first time through and was grateful. :)

I got a Brazilian before my wedding day 7 yrs ago and it was awesome (not the experience but the effect.). Getting my shuns waxed hurt worse than the Brazilian. The lady did not make me feel very comfortable but it was well worth it. I would love to surprise my husband with it for our anniversary cruise in May. Hopefully I won't be as embarrassed then as u would now. :(

Brazillian is the way to go! I used to go every 4 weeks but after the hair stopped growing as quick, I moved to 5-6 weeks.

The hair must be at least 1/2" per my salon. If it is too long, then they will trim it. Also, some salons will offer some kind of cream to numb it a little. In my opinion, it wasn't worth it.

The first time, I was a bit skeptical but these ladies are professional. I love the outcome and I am thinking about adding my armpits to the regimen.

Oh, and wait 24hours before sex if possible. I believe my salon says no baths either for 24hrs (you can take a shower but don't scrub there)

Yes, Brazillian is great. I only go downtown if the streets are clean. But when it's clean, I'll take my time & enjoy the scenery :)

Oh no...not to you. Sugaring is great. I just meat any licensed esthetician using the amber colored honey wax to perform a bikini wax....well that's insane. Lol

I had that and it was a HORRIBLE experience. I had that with my very first wax and never went back. The other salon I went to used the strips and that would leave me raw and red down there, sex was definitely out of the question for a couple of days or at least till it scabbed over a little :/ I guess I will look into a salon that uses the blue wax, I'm gonna call around tomorrow.

Alright girls, I'm going to trust you and give it a try. Anything I need to know? I freaking hate shaving so I hope this is a better solution. Also anything I need to look out as far as salon cleanliness? Shouldn't they use a new stick every dip into the wax or something?

My suggestion for the first time is to find a nice spa on Yelp with good ratings. Don't go for the $35 chain places or nail salons for the first time. Spas are more relaxing and strive more on customer satisfaction than a salon where the prices are low.

My advice, be brave! You will feel so sexy! You will be glad you did it!!! :) If you find a good salon, the technician will e good enough that it doesn't hurt that bad. In my opinion waxing my eye brows feels exactly the same!

I'm not scared of the pain. I just worry about getting a rash or something. My skin is so sensitive, when I shave I get crazy bumps no matter how careful I am or what I use.

This is something I've wanted to do for a very long time bc I really hate shaving. I'm just so embarrassed by my fat poochy pubic area:-(

I've been waxing for years, I do it myself and have also been to a beauty therapist.

Find a good Beauty therapist, mine was an ex nurse - made me more comfortable!

It gets easier the more u do it and the results are fantastic. I'm currently experiencing a shrinking 'region' which is making it easier lol

At one stage I used to use an epilator...now if u can handle an epilator u can handle ANYTHING lol

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
