I also had 3 c-sections and my gallbladder removed in an open surgery (this was before they did it laparascopically). I did well after all my surgeries, the usual weakness after having the abdomen muscles cut, but no intense pain.

The gallbladder was worse than the c-sections because they cut me under the ribcage from the sternum to my side, but even so I did ok.

VSG for me was even easier. Some discomfort from excess gas but no real pain. I used the morphine pump to sleep and get relaxed but felt fine to walk around, use the bathroom, etc a few hours after surgery. Took a month off work, walked a couple of miles every morning. Could have gone back alot sooner but opted to get my R&R. Fluids well tolerated and I feel better than I have in decades.

After care of sleeve one thousand times better than c section..I'm back at work and was sleeved a week ago. The pain for couple hours after surgery...more painful than c- section...the pain from gas is short lived..then I was fine..c section pain lasted longer but not a intense..

Steelergirl, I am so happy you said that. I have it set in my head that it should be similar to my c section recovery....and I only want to be out of work for 1 1/2 weeks.

In my opinion, recovery from c-section was worst than recovery from sleeve surgery.

Be prepared for a rough 1-2 days with VSG (rougher than Caesar) due to the general anesthetic rather than local but the recovery is much quicker!! I had zero pain 4 days post op. Could have done a cartwheel.

My first C-section I was in a great deal of pain, I healed really well and quickly, the second one I was surprised because although it was painful, but not as much as the first and I wondered if it was because those nerves in that area were severed, I don't think they ever came back cause it's still numb today, and that was 6 years ago. I healed well after that one too. With the sleeve the only pain I felt was when I was coming out of anesthesia, and I could feel my stomach hurting, but I'm not sure if they had started my pain pump yet, or I could have been just out of it. It hurt, but no where near c-section pain, the incisions healed well too, and I honestly don't remember my incisions hurting at all, just a little pulling when I moved, and a little itchy. I wish my c-sections could have been like the sleeve. :)

Thank you, thank you for this topic!!! I had been wondering too, I have had 2 c-sections and a vertical open hysterectomy. The hysterectomy was the worst thing I have ever been through due to healing of the large incision. I have been hoping and convinced myself that the sleeve would be a lot easier than the surgeries I have had. Just over 4 days to go for me!!!

This is very encouraging!! I too had 2 c-sections and was worried about recovery time. I only want to take a couple of weeks off work and it seems like that's possible. I know everyone is different, but at least it's hopeful! Thanks!

Thanks for all the responses. I THINK I can tolerate pain well. I think being put to sleep scares me even more. I've been pput to sleep for a leep and my egd... but that's it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
