Does (Did) Your Doc Require You To Give Yourself Shots?

Recommended Posts

I had to inject myself with a blood thinner the night before surgery, and twice a day for two weeks afterwards! I hate it... Is this common?

This is the first I've heard of this practice.

I did receive blood thinning injections at the hospital and while I was still admitted, but those were administered by a nurse.

I had to inject myself once a day for 3 weeks...well worth it, considering what the consequences might be.

I had to give myself Lovenox, blood thinner, injections. During the three days I was in the hospital, the nurse made me give them to myself. Then, when I was at home, I had to give myself a shot everyday, for ten days. It bruised me up really bad, but it wasnt all that bad, didnt even hurt. Just grab some fat on your lower belly and stick :o.

Ask your doc for a sharps container!

I am also using Lovenox 2x a day... But I could have probably used more training than just being told, "Inject yourself in the stomach..." I did not get a sharps container and have been using a rinsed out milk jug. And mine DO hurt! :-)

I haven't had surgery to yet, but I found out in my pre op class that I'll have to do this. I'm kinda like worried I won't be able to work up the nerve to do it!

I had to do the blood thinner too once I got home, small needle in my stomach once a day and it was no big deal. I noticed I didn't have much feeling on my stomach area anyway probably from the surgery anyway so it never hurt. It is not a big deal and I don't think all doctors make you do it. If it is hard for you to do you could have a family member do it.

I had the injections while in the hospital. None before, none after!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
