VERY WELL SAID! I agree with s you said. I am 4 weeks post op and have not denied myself tastes if everything. The whole reason I did this surgery was to remove me from the DIET world. When I read comments on what people are eating or not allowed to eat, I second guess myself with, I suffered through this surgery and process just go get back on a diet ? No f 'no way!! My take on my sleeve , it will allow me to eat less and it will allow me to push my plate away. Of course always striving for well balanced and highly nutritious meals. That's the point- to stop the yoyo dieting and live normally .

I love the fact that I can only handle 1/4c of anything - I love that it is hard to hit 1000 calories a day- I love the fact that I can barely finish anything- THAT is the point! It's about having a new natural limit so why deny?

Thank you Alex for this post- long but very much needed!!

Bear in mind, that as ur stomach heals, you'll be able to eat A LOT more. A LOT!! So, the key, as you mentioned, is the healthy choices. Not nuts, but healthy and just hold back on portions and wait to see if hungry later. Much easier to do than without the sleeve and doesn't work on normal diet. I eat great and eat a lot more than 2 years ago. I try to keep calories to 1800. Some days 2000+, but the reality was on bad days in my old life I was at 3-4,000 calories and , frankly 1800 a day or more with workout will keep me at 180 lbs.. Enjoy!!

I liked the post. You made some great points.

I did hear a story about someone through my surgical group who ate a chip the day after surgery who did open her stomach and cause complications. So I don't know that it's 100% accurate what you said.

Also in respect to caffine or alcohol... I know there is a medical reason and that is while your new stomach is forming you don't want to cause ulcers. But maybe the length of times can be exagerated sometimes. My NUT said to wait a month while my surgeon said to wait only 2 weeks. Friday is my 2 week mark and I am seeing my surgeon that day. I am excited to have my first coffee on that day and I am doing my part by waiting until then.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
