Can You Drink A Whole Protein Shake?

Recommended Posts

I am just under 2 weeks post op. I still just drink 1/2 of a shake at a time. I don't want to feel too full. I have not had any problems since surgery and I don't want to have any :)

How long until you drank a whole shake? ??

I think it was about 3 to 4 weeks out.

Just make sure you get your liquids in. It will come in time.

There's no hurry! You will get there in no time at all. I really enjoyed drinking small amounts of my Protein Drink at first. It was around the 4th week that I could drink the majority of it. :)

that is just what my Dr. told me. THE MOST important thing the 1st month is getting in your liquids. Then you will concentrate on liquids AND Protein. It made me feel much better. You may want to just mix 1/2 of your shake at a time because I have read the protein only stays stable for up to an hour.

If the one hour was true how do they make ready to drink Protein Shakes. I use powder and mix full serving in 4 oz of Water to make sure i get all I need in one day.

At the beginning it used to take me 90 minutes to drink a premade shake. I can now drink a whole one in about 15-20min at 9 weeks out.

It may not seem like it now but the time will fly by...the first 2-3 weeks are the hardest...just focus on your liquids and the Protein will come as you get further along.

Good luck with your new life!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I will certainly be doing that from now on. They are much better fresh if you ask me!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
