Sheree reacted to traceyinflorida in CoffeeDoes this help??!! I have never heard of this before? If it works, then I may rethink my rethinking of drinking my morning coffee! LOL I only started drinking coffee last week, and have noticed my potty issues getting a little better, but I thought that was just luck. Please enlighten me!

Sheree reacted to traceyinflorida in ProteinThose little trackers can be deceiving. I lost 10 prior to my pre-op diet. I lost another 15 while on my pre-op and then I have lost 38 lbs in 10 weeks post surgery. So really you are ahead of my pace when you look at it that way, since I have a whole month on you. But, as much as I would love to wake up tomorrow and be at my goal weight, I am okay with losing an average of 3 pounds a week. I still hate the stalls (I have had two) but I know now that they will pass. I also use them to evaluate what I am eating to see if I could be doing something different. You are doing great Sherree!!

Sheree got a reaction from Shubox in Does Your Taste Change After Surgery? Before surgery I LOVED to drink iced tea all day and 1 cup of coffe in the a.m.. Now I can't stand the taste of either one!!! I am 6 weeks out so I am hoping it will change. I haven't noticed it with food but am looking forward to the day I enjoy my coffee and tea again!

Sheree reacted to bethL in Pain While EatingHold up. It frustrates me to no end when some one posts something and every one acts as though he or she is doing something wrong. My doctor allowed me unlimited Popsicles (bites included) and other clear sugar free liquids including low sodium broth as soon as I was discharged from the hospital on day 2. I was only on clear liquids while in the hospital and was instructed to begin adding milk to get to full liquids as tolerated. Please remember that every doctor is different. To answer your question, Tiff187, I am 1 week out and also get the pain. At first it was with everything (even water). Now, it's only with heavier items such as my vitamins and milk. When we put things in our stomachs (anything - water, etc), it naturally causes contractions of the muscles to push the food and liquid through the stomach into the intestine. Normally we cant feel this, but we can feel it post-up. Every one is different. Some people have more pain with hot things, others have more pain with cold things. Just do what you can tolerate so long as it is on the plan that you have. You'll be great!

Sheree reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Silly QuestionThis all depends on how you define "normal". If "normal" means being able to shove 1500 calories down your throat in one sitting or always getting the biggest size popcorn at he theater. Or maybe "normal" is being winded after climbing 1 flight of stairs. Then NO, Thank God, I will never feel "normal" again
I'm gonna be like my weirdo friends that actually climb mountains for recreation. You know, those crazy people that don't need to grab a candy bar & a soda every time the put gas in their car. Those oddballs that can walk by a box of donuts and not grab one(or 2 or 3 or 4). What about those nut jobs out there on Seadoos jumping waves and having fun.
Nah, in a country where 65% of the population are overweight, and over 1/2 of those are obese(38% of the population), I for one do NOT want to be normal.
Put me with the 35% minority, because that is where I'm heading. Excuse me for putting it so bluntly, but "normal" sucks.

Sheree got a reaction from AdeptDreamer in How Painful Was The Surgery?Hi, I as well really had no pain, a little sore in the stomach area and took pain meds only at night for 3 nights to help me sleep (why not? I couldn't lay on my side or of course belly for about 2 weeks. My worst complaint was my nausea. From water to the protein shakes, everything made me nauseaus. I woke up nauseaus and fell asleep nauseaus. That was also for about 2 weeks. Now, 5 weeks out I feel great and SO happy I had the surgery. I have lost 19 lbs. and am on my way. good luck, you will be fine.

Sheree reacted to SpecialK1960 in Dreaded Week 3-4 Stall: Any Tips To Break It?What drives me crazy is my scale. It is a decent digital scale. And for the last 4 days I have weighed the exact same thing to the 1/10th of a pond. The odds of that are astronomical. A few weeks ago it gave me identical readings for three days - ten boom, I lost like 3 pounds in 2 days. Hopefully, I am on the edge of another 3 pound drop.
Bottomline - The scales are in a wicked conspiracy to keep us unhappy. They somehow know when we are vulnerable and then they just give us the same weight day after day.... and they laugh about it. The fact that your scale has maliciously added 2 pounds means you have an especially evil scale. Probably a conspiracy ring leader. I say we round them up and throw them in a dumpster tobe free from their evil tyranny. (although mine cost $75, maybe I will just have a talk with it) .....Sushhhh, I hear the black helicopters, they must be reading my e-mail.
Good luck. I am sure you will be losing again in no time.

Sheree reacted to his2my2our4 in How Painful Was The Surgery?I have heard so many variations of post op stories. I think every one is so different, it's hard to predict. I also had zero gas pains and very little post op pain. I was sore, don't get me wrong, but not pain. It was uncomfortable to laugh, sneeze or cough and the idea to keep a pillow handy is a really good one (also comes in handy on the ride home for the bumps in the road).
My biggest complaint was trying to get comfortable to sleep. I couldn't sleep on my side or my stomach for a few days...maybe even a week.
Good luck to you!

Sheree reacted to CAsleeve in How Painful Was The Surgery?Every person has different pain threshholds and different types of pain. Gas pains are common. I took pain meds for one day. The hardest part or most painful part for me after surgery, if I remember this correctly, was laying down flat (this took a couple weeks) and coughing because it jars the abdominal area (hold a pillow to your tummy, it helps tremendously).

Sheree reacted to sassypants in Calcium "horse" PillsI am prescribed adcal- D3 effervescent tablets I take them twice a day.
Its calcium and D3 together, and they are a nice lemon flavour too!
Even when I told calcium before the op I took a D3 vit because it helps your body absorb the calcium.
-
Sheree reacted to MJ's comingN2form in Calcium "horse" PillsYou know calcium also comes in chocolate sugar free chews, gummie form and liquid. Move to other options. I'm 2wks post op and I take calcium chews

Sheree reacted to zenoosh in Severe Left Shoulder Pain 1 Week Out--Anyone Else?Ok, so here's what I found: people are saying its gas pain from the surgery itself. Someone mentioned that they kinda blow up your insides with C02 to work around everything, and sometimes gas gets stuck and you have to walk it out of your system. Others mentioned that this pain was their trigger/signal that they're full or ate too much. Only a few mentioned that it could be stricture or leak, but these peeps were further out than you. And btw, I found all this by punching in "left shoulder pain post op" into the forum/post search. Seems like its pretty common, but definitely keep your eye on it. Good luck! I hope you find relief very soon :-)
-
Most likely what is called "Referred Shoulder Pain", caused by gas. Very common after surgery. Your best treatment is walking, to get things moving. The body will reabsorb and pass the gas. Try drinking warm tea (soothing to the bowels), warm showers and Gas X. I found peppermint tea to be very soothing and helpful.
Best wishes to you!!

Sheree reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Ok So Maybe Its A Pcos Thing?I think I might see something here
From what you said here, you simply aren't eating enough. I am willing to bet that you were/are putting yourself into "starvation" mode.
I can't see how what you've listed could even come close to 500calories. Your body simply needs more. It thinks its starving and is trying to conserve every bit of energy(fat) that it can.
And believe me, the body can be very efficient at conserving energy
Really, at 3months out, you should be well over 700cal/day possibly even bumping 1000 occasionally
Not to mention that there is no way that you are meeting the protien requirements.
I bet you are feeling lethargic also. Am I right?
Do you have a NUT? If so I would definitely schedule an appointment.
If not, my recommendation would be to increase what you are consuming. You should be eating something about every 3hours or so.
I know that might be difficult with work schedules and such, but do your best. Maybe add a protien shake or 2 to what you are doing now.
You become very good at limiting your intake. And I commend you for the strength it takes to do this. My fear is that you've become too good.
I hope this helps.

Sheree reacted to suzjag in Whem Does The Excess Burping Stop?Yes the blender makes sense. Maybe I'll stir afterwards to loosen up some of the bubbles. Good call. And if I gotta burp then fine but this morning after my protein shake it just seemed excessive. Thanks guys

Sheree reacted to Wolfgirl1978 in Early Stall! The three week stall is the most common, notorious stall. It's perfectly normal. Mine lasted for 7 days some people's last longer.

Sheree reacted to MegInNOLA in Exactly, How Did You Loose Weight...?I agree, your weight is dropping off--you're losing fast! You're young, so please listen when I say: EXERCISE. It's not about dropping the weight faster--it's about retaining your shape and strength as you lose the weight. I'm going to be--gulp--50 this month and I didn't/don't exercise. Yes, I dropped the weight anyway, but I am paying for that lack of exercise and fast loss with MUCH loose skin and odd bumpy shapes on my belly--skin droooops, and you do not want that! You want to look HAWT when you're done and be able to show off that gorgeous shape without worrying about floppiness. Exercise will help tighten stuff up. Trust me, please; unfortunately, I know what I'm talking about. My skin isn't so loose that it flaps (some people do lose so much so fast that their skin cannot keep up and it literally flaps), but it is NOT pretty and everything--"everything"--lost perkiness. So exercise. :-) Hugs to you--keep doing what you're doing but ADD EXERCISE!
