Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Thanks, Nick'sMom, well said. I could never have done any of this like this pre-sleeve. Duh, one of the reasons I did this at all.

Hey everyone... I'm 7 weeks post op as of yesterday... Pre-Op I was 299.8... Really pushing that 300... I went into surgery at 289... Yesterday I weighed in at 258.5... So in 2 months... I have lost 41 pounds... Im pretty content with my weight loss. I think we expect to lose like 5 pounds every week but really... If it comes off TOO FAST... we are gonna be SUPER flabby... Look at this way... Averaging 10 pounds a month... About 2 pounds a week... That is 120 pounds in a year. Keep your heads up :) keep up with those liquids and that Protein.< /p>

Sent from my GT-I9100 using VST

I had my surgery on Sept 19 and I lost good the first 2 weeks (19 lbs) and then nothing for the next 2 weeks. I called my doctor very frustrated as well and he assured me that it was normal...he said my body was in shock and to try milk of magnesia as Constipation might be the issue. I have lost 10 more lbs...you might try it.

ok sleeve sisters stop breath and be thankful. i was told by my nut that an average of 10lbs a month is normal. example i lost 10lbs in sept right, so she said she would expect me to start losing again untli october. so like most are saying the body needs to catch up thats all. we are all doing great we have great support and a new tummy. so if you lost a big amount already just give it time. i hope i made sense because i have a hard time explaining myself.

my nut emailied me today and offically im down to one shake a day. she said lunch and dinner eat protien fruit or veggie snack something like cottege chz yogart string cheese with fruit makes sense to me. so lets all be strong we didnt get like this overnight and we wont lose it overnight. i think we all thought once we got sleeved the fat would just melt off, boy were we fooled lol. keep smiling

I think for me personally I worry that I will not do as well as everyone else. I think that maybe I will only lose very little and be the one to only lose 50% of my excess weight. That may be why I obsess on what I am losing and how fast. I am VERY thankful for the 23 pounds but need so much more off, it seems like I will never get there.

My feeling, reading the above posts, is that if it takes me a year to lose 130 pounds - or if I don't lose 130 pounds - I will feel like a total failure.

I didn't do this to still be obese. I didn't do this to only lose 60% of my excess weight. I would be OK (not thrilled, but OK) with losing 90% (which would put me at 13 over my goal).

Just need to figure out how to do it. Met with the NUT yesterday and he said I'm doing everything right - even close to perfect - with what I'm eating. I'm not getting enough exercise but was just cleared a few days ago so will go to a couple of gyms this weekend to see what they offer (and to see if I would feel OK working out there at my current weight - going somewhere and feeling miserable about your appearance isn't good motivation at all!). I might end up getting some DVD's and working out at home until I lose a bit more.......

I sure understand everyone's frustration. We all want a magical solution and it's hard to realize that even though we're sleeved, we still have to put a TON of thought, energy and effort into losing the weight.

I'm depressed now. I need a brownie - (not really).

Ugh so jealous of these 30 lbs losses.... Surgery date 9/17 and down 19 lbs. Frustrating... Almost ready to just go back to Protein Shakes only. Anyone else losing slow?

I'm 6 weeks today and only 18 lbs down.. I think I just broke the world record for losing so slow... Lol!

just wondering.. for those of you who are 5-6 weeks post op, are you eating pretty much everything now? I'm eating "real food" and still drinking a shake everyday but have been nervous to try salad or steak..

what are YOU eating? :)

I basically eat everything now... Salad is good... If I eat a raw vegetable... I do it in super small amounts at a time... Too much and I dump. Hmmm.... I ate some steak that was cooked medium and it was tender and juicy... Had no problems eating it.

I'm eating anything, well except junk food. I tried salad a few days ago and didn't have any problems. I try to avoid red meat since I was told its hard to digest.

I'm 6 weeks out and I've had a bit of salad (didn't want to waste the room in my itty bitty stomach on salad since it's kind of "empty" calories).

I've had steak - did just fine with it.

Mostly I'm eating yogurt (breakfast everyday), 2 oz of grilled chicken or shrimp or broiled fish or similar along with 1/4 C of some type of veggie for lunch. dinner pretty much the same as lunch but I'll sometimes add a starch. I usually have 2 snacks/day - yogurt, cottage cheese, beef Jerky, lowfat string cheese - something with a decent amount of Protein.< /p>

I haven't had a shake in at least 2 weeks. I do have a Cytosport whey isolate Protein Drink every day. It's a clear fruity flavored drink. Found them at Vitamin Shoppe and like them better than a shake or the Isopure Ready-to-Drink Zero Carb. They have 130 calories/bottle, 32 gr protein.

Sometimes I'll add 1/4 scoop of the unflavored Protein Powder to my evening yogurt snack if I'm a bit low on protein that day.

I am eating most things except raw veggies. I talked to my nurse yesterday and she said I can add them at 3 months. I have never craved a salad but I do now!! lol

I have been losing slowly too. Many stalls had me a bit down but I broke this latest stall and now things seem to be moving downward again:) When I look at the over all picture I have lost 50 pre and post op! WOW that is just amazing. Then I realize things are going so much better than pre sleeve!!! The stalls just seem to drag on and on.....

So happy with my sleeve :)

I am happy to hear so many of you are doing so great, but have to say I am little envious that I am still having such a hard tome with solids. One day I can eat 2oz of grilled pork chop and two days later only 2-3 tiny bites. I was told to cut my bites to the size of pencil eraser and chew chew chew....which I do. But most days am only able to eat 2-3 bites of anything. chicken does not agree with me at all, and I loved chicken before sleeve. Was told by NUT to keep to three meals and NO Snacks each day....but if I didn't try to get 2 tiny snacks each day I would starve.

Reading the posts here I know if I could eat more at each meal I would have more energy and maybe loose weight a little faster. I started shakes again last week to help get my Protein in but can only drink about 4 oz over hour. I am keeping record of all my intake to show NUT and Dr next week on my 6 week post op visit.

Thanks for lisening!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
