I Know I Shouldn't Complain But...

Recommended Posts

I am already sick of puréed foods. I know lots of people have to do a full liquid diet forever so I feel bad even complaining bc I know I have it good, but I am already sick of mushy stuff! I'm trying to be creative to keep things from being bland. I have made lowfat potato/veggie Soup and lowfat broccoli cheese Soup and have been alternating between those and cottage cheese. I think I'm going to have my husband make low fat white chicken chili for tomorrow. What is every one else eating during their puréed stage? I get full after about 2-3 oz so I'm struggling to get my Protein and Water in. I have to find an unflavored Protein powder that I can add to my Soups, etc. What is everyone else using?

Rach

I found something at the grocery store the other day... it would be quick and relatively easy to make... Old El Paso now makes "tortilla fillers" they come in those heat and eat microwave packages.. meat and everything EXCEPT the tortilla. Throw that in the blender/processor with a few drops of enchilada sauce and you have at least something with some flavor... I bought a few for after surgery.

I use the Unjury unflavored Protein Powder to add to my greek yougurt, pudding, Soup (make sure it's not too hot), etc., to boost the grams of Protein. They also have a chicken flavored soup that I also added to my Soups.< /p>

I would love to be able to chew something. I've been drinking my meals since August 10th. It's really starting to suck.

Well, I'm definitely not getting to chew anything since everything is the consistency of baby food, but I know it could be worse which is why I felt bad complaining at all bc I know there are those of you out there who are suffering way worse than me. I'm sorry. :( I know I'm lucky bc my doctor only required 1 day of full liquids (day before surgery) and then after surgery I had nothing for that day, Clear Liquids the next, and onto pureed foods right after. So, I know I'm fortunate. I am coming up with things with flavor, but the it's the consistency that is killing me.

Good luck dear. Drinking meals since August 20th...that sounds impossible. You are clearly amazing!

The first thing I ate after liquids was some avocado. It was delicious!

Yum. Avocado. I have a list of the things I want to eat when I start puréed. Today was my birthday, and I felt a little depressed for the first time, because I want to eat something. It'll get better I know, and it's so worth it. If I didn't have this site, I don't know what I would do.

I definitely felt better today after we made white chicken chili for dinner. It felt more substantial and made me feel a lot better. I have found 1000 healthy recipes that I can't wait to try once I get to regular food. It's amazing how excited I am about eating healthy food. It suddenly all looks so tasty and that is probably due to not being able to have any of it now, but what a blessing it is to look at healthy food and think it looks awesome! :D I'll have to check that book out as well.

I've been doing liquids since August 15th. Soft foods start this coming Tuesday. Had my leak test done a few days ago & my sleeve looks great. Yah!!

ReadyForSuccess: when you can start with soft foods? It sounds like we have more conservative surgeons than most people here. :-)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
