Was Anyone Not Put On Pre Op Diet?

I was not put on a pre op diet and I am reading some of these posts on here saying their surgeon didn't do surgery because of liver size. I am scared now. I am hoping I don't have that problem!!! Yikes

I was not on a preop diet either. I didn't have any problems. There are a number of us on here whose doctors didn't require them too. Good luck.

nope, no preop diet for me either.

I did not have a pre-op diet as my bmi was under 40. I did use the week before to detox off sugar and carbs and drink alot more water.

I don't have do do a pre-op diet either. BMI 34 I think. He said my BMI was not high enough to need to do pre-op.

But I'm going to do the same - try to kick sugar and carbs, get the worst over.

I don't have to do a pre-op diet and i think my BMI is around 41. My surgeon has had tons of experience so I guess he's doesn't worry about liver size *shrugs*

I had to do 7 days of a full liquid diet before surgery to shrink the liver. My BMI was I think 41 prior to surgery. Not sure why some require it and some don't. I know that I was glad I did it the week before, that way I was prepared for the 2 weeks post op with the full liquid diet. I lost 8lbs that week doing the full liquids which didn't hurt either!!

My doc only wants me to do two days clear liquids before surgery. After reading about all the different diets and problems on here I think I will do the diet for a bit longer!

I think it all depends on the surgeon. My bmi is 41 and i didnt have to do one and a friend of mine who used the same surgeon was bmi of about 50 and she didn't have to do one.

My pre-op diet is to eat healthy, three meals a day, cut down sugar and caffeine. Liquids only 3 days prior to surgery.

On day 7 of 10 of a liquid diet. Have to do a bowel prep tomorrow then clear liquids on Sunday for surgery Monday. My bmi was 42, seems Barix does this for all patients. I would rather be safe than sorry.

I have a 2 week one I will be on, but I did google some info on it and there are liver shirking diets on there (webmd) if I wasn't assigned one I'd still do one from there. The last thing I'd want is to get cut open just to find out they couldn't do it :/

Geez...I'm wondering if I should do a pre op diet anyways to just make sure there r no issues with my liver. Ugh

I was not put on a pre-op diet. I got the lapband in 2002 and the port separated from the tube. I wanted the sleeve but my surgeon said he didn't think i should. I scheduled surgery to get my Lapband revised and my surgeon told me two days before my surgery that he recommends I get the sleeve instead.

I was not put on a pre op diet. But I did two days of clear liquids just to be safe and to get used to it. I was fine and lost a couple of pounds.
