  1. Hi Everyone, I was given a prescription for paxil today for my anxiety and when I got home I read the side effects and one of the main side effect was weight gain. I couldn't find a thread with this on it here so I'm curious is anyone on it after surgery and notice weight gain from it??? I'm considering not even taking it after reading that.

Emerald nuts have a 100 calorie pack of almonds that I get. I don't eat them everyday but they are a great snack that I have a couple times a week

    Stalls can bite me!

I know exactly how you feel. I am almost 5 months out and I have hit stalls that would last maybe a week but my current one has lasted almost a month. I know it's hard to deal with them but eventually it will pass.

I have always had an issue with oily skin but after surgery is been super dry and is dry all over my body. I can't keep enough lotion on to keep it from being dry. I almost wish I had the b oily skin back on my face because it looks horrible now with all the dry patches.

    stupid stall

So I am not quite 5 months out and I have been in this stall for about 3 weeks and I feel like I am not going to lose anymore weight. I also feel like I can eat more food. I am still only able to eat a small amount of food but more than before. I thought if you eat more that it can actually cause a boost in weightloss because your body doesn't feel like it's in starvation mode. I am still eating right and excersing the the way I am supposed to. Any tips? ??? I don't I want this to be the end to my journey with about 40lbs left to go.

    stupid stall

Yeah I started to lose my hair at month 2 which sucks but not too bad because my hair is really thick and I have a lot of it so you can't tell that its falling out. My problem is im a scale ***** and weigh myself everyday. I have had stalls that last a week but not 3 so it gets very discouraging. I've done well so far and shouldn't complain but it's hard not to think that I'm done ugh

    Im still amazed

When I started this journey I thought I knew everything that I needed to know and kinda knew what to expect when it comes to my progress. I started my journey on 9/19/12 at 262lb wearing a size 24pant and tops. I knew I was big and hated it but i still ate enough food to feed 4 people. Buffets were my best friends bc it was never ending. Since my surgery I am down to 182lbs and amazed on how little I eat. I know I am supposed to eat a small amount but to look at what I am eating and know that a few bites of this or that will make me full so I make sure I eat what is best for my body. I am literally eating a 10th of what I used to eating and honestly it feels good. I am starting to now feel smaller..I am far from being thin but I enjoy not being known as that fat girl anymore. I went shopping today and tried on some pants and I'm now a size 14. That is a big difference from the 24 that I started with. I don't even remember the last time I was a size 14. I honestly think I just went straight from a size 12 to an 18 bc when I first started to gain a lot of weight I was wearing sweatpants a lot. It's still mind blowing to me about this whole thing. I feel like I will continue to be amazed as I reach my goal weight. The sleeve was the best thing I have ever done and would do it again even with the issues I had in the beginning. I didn't know where to post this but just thought I would share some of my happiness.

    hubby/wifey

My hubby was not thrilled with the idea initially bc of lack of info that he had on it. He knew I wanted to do this for myself to get healthy bc of many failed attempts in the past. I took him to a free wls seminar with one of the drs I was considering and with his research he changed his mind. He has always said he loves me no matter what. We have been together for 15 yrs and when we first met I was much smaller then gained a lot of weight so he has seen me at all different sizes. I think he was more ok with it bc he saw how I wanted and needed it.

    Im still amazed

Thanks! I'm sure there are other who feel like me. I guess after being large for so long it's just a shocker. I read so many great stories on here and would think how awesome they were doing and why I wasn't doing as we'll until you actually look at everything that has happened and finally realize you are doing just as great even though you may not lose as quick. Is awesome and I can't wait for everyone else to feel this way especially newbies just out of surgery.

    coffee

I didn't drink much coffee pre op but I did enjoy the occasional cup every now and then. When I was in the hospital right after surgery they gave me coffee and it was the l best thing I ever had and now drink a cup every morning. I just use sugar free flavored creamer or fat free half and half and truvia.

    good news and bad news

So I have been having problems with vomiting over the past week. Everything I try to eat makes me throw up and I just feel nausea throughout the day. I finally called my surgeon to set an appointment. I am 4 months out and have been doing really good for a while after my issues of constant vomiting and nausea the first month and half after surgery. I couldn't eat and could hardly tolerate any liquids and was in the hospital a lot for dehydration. Well now that because its starting back up he wants to do another endoscopy. I did one 1month post op and they found no issues. They said it was the perfect sleeve so I'm wondering what they think they will find with this one? I almost feel like they just wanna keep running tests just to run them and I dont want that to be my first choice. So they r gonna try other meds first and if it doesnt work within a week I will have to schedule another endoscopy. He said something about the difference would be I had the twighlight sedation before and they want to try with general anesthesia next. I dont understand how that makes a difference. I'm lost and kinda feel like I'm being passed around almost. Anyways the good news is I'm 4months out and have lost 76 lbs and they said my weightloss was phenomenal so that made me feel good. I just wish the first part of this post was better news.

    good news and bad news

That does exaplain it some but just afraid they will go in and find nothing which is a good thing but feel like its a waste of time. They out me on ativan which they say help with nausea but it makes me feel drunk so I u fortunately can not take it 3 times a day sine it wont help me much at work. And the endoscopy is not scheduled until 2/22 which is over a month away. The only thing I can hope for is the nausea eases off

    September Was Your Progress?

Dont get discouraged! I was sleeved on 9/19 and I hit stalls all the time. I went 3 weeks once before without a loss and other times I'm just like you where I would lose only a pound a week. You are still losing so that is a positive

Do you really need a hospital buddy?

My husband was there when I had the surgery but I sent him home after I got out. He main concern was that I came out of surgery ok. There was no need to have him sit there and watch me sleep and the nurses helped me walk around. I also did t want him uncomfortable on those horrible hospital couches. He did however come by after work the rest of the days to walk with me.

    It's hilarious to eat, now

I've never seen our grocery bill so low. We pretty much shop for 1 person bc I don't eat much at all.
  23. I look at Victoria Secrets online and dream of the day I can wear that stuff! I used to when I first met my husband almost 15 years ago but now I'm in what I call my old granny gear! Surgery weight is 262 and was wearing a size 24 and currently I am at 189 wearinf size 16/18 depending on brand and my personal goal is to get down to about 140 and would love to be in single digit clothing. My dr wants me at 125 but I feel I would look sickly.
