Ever sice I woke up from having my vsg i cant help but regret it. Maybe because im still in the liquid phase and i am hungry. I feel ashamed that i did this to myself. I only have 90 lbs to lose I wish I would have just tried harder. I feel like I am torturing my body and can not go a day without crying. When does like go back to the way it was?

You won't regret it! I was depressed for a while too. It has been 9 months since my surgery. I had exactly 100 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight. When people ask me if I regret it I can say NOT A SINGLE BIT!! It's new to you still. I have seen a lot of people saying they are "mourning the loss of food" and I think that is so true. It is hard watching people eating solid food while you drink yours. IT GETS BETTER!! Try getting out and walking or whatever activity your doctor has approved. Exercise can relieve stress and depression. If you feel like crying then cry. There is nothing wrong with that!

As far as why didn't you try harder...that is something you need to get out of your head. You can't put your stomach back. You can't change what you've already done. You can only do your best for your future. I personally could maintain 265 pounds for 18 years. I couldn't maintain 245 pounds for more than a month. I personally needed this tool, my sleeve, to get there and hopefully I will stay there.

Keep your head up pretty lady, IT WILL GET BETTER!!

We all have it, it's called Monday morning quarterbacking - that is "What if I'd just . . ." I had along argument with myself about it post-op.

Look if you and I COULD of done it then WHY DIDN'T WE? Why didn't we just muster up the willpower to say NO to all that food? Because we lack the willpower that's why, that and everything that conspires against us.

We all gripe about the high cost of food, yet food prices (adjusted for inflation) are lower now then EVER before in history (sans resent and upcoming price hikes due to the massive drought). Farming is cheaper, infrastructure to ship and serve food is phenomenal and our appetites just grew because of it. Portions are out of control and we just got fatter and fatter because of it.

YES, WLS is a drastic step but it's a step that a majority of us need to take in order to be healthier and happier in our lives.

Chances are in a few months, a few years you'll look back at this and think it was one if not THE best thing you ever did for yourself.

Hmm My nutritionist seems to be a little different than yalls. I did my liquid diet for about 4 days and was starving. I tried a tiny bite of cheese grits and realized I was able to hold then down without a problem. I called my nutritionist to ask if it was okay and she said she was suprised I was able to hold it down this soon! She said all that meant was I must not have haf the stomach swelling that most have. Luckily I havent had any reflux, abdominal pain, or negative experiences! My right side is a little sore from my incision that's still a little bruised but nothing else! My nutritionist suggested I make some chicken and veggie Soup and let it cook for a very long time so the chicken is tender and put some in a blender and try that! She also suggested I go ahead and move onto pureed foods and then soft when I can.

Hey!!!!!! Wake up! This is fabulous that you want a better healthier lifestyle!. I am a Marriage and Family therapist and I highly recommend that you get up and out of bed and go for a walk each morning. Look at nature around you, smell the air, be thankful for whatever you had. You are a beautiful vibrant woman and it's time to rise to the occasion. You are having a lot of hormonal releases in our body. If you can't get out of bed to exercise, then go see your PCP and seek out a therapist that can help you. You can do this. I want you to tell yourself that you are going to be so much more healthier and have so much more energy, and will be much more happier than in the past. This is a great thing that you have chosen and am so fortunate to be able to benefit from it. First, up your Protein some, drink as much Water as you can. This is the worst part and pretty soon, you will be eating more foods. Try some Soup broth. You can do this. I know you can. Keep talking with us on the board for support. :) Ask questions. But do get out and start walking.........

I went through the same crying spells you are having now. Your hormones are wacked out of alignment and everyting is emotional. The pre-op diet phase probably didn't help much either because probably you went into surgery feeling like you could have eaten off your arm.

I promise you... it will get better. When your new stomach heals enough to eat more solid foods, you'll feel much more like yourself. Just remember the reason you had the surgery.

Stay positive, and if you can, we're here for you... :)

I am having my surgery Tuesday so I may be in your boat by then, but I doubt you'll always have to worry about throwing up everytime you eat, forever. You will learn what you can and can't have and how much you are able to have. I am guessing this will be 2nd nature.

Hang in there young lady! You can get through this scary time. I too suggest seeking therapy to deal with the underlying loss and mourning of something you've done for so long. I know this is something I will have to deal with bc I turn to food for everything whether it be bc I'm bored, sad, mad or celebrating. Those are changes that will just need to be dealt with and I know we can both do it.

Please keep posting so you can get the support you need from people who are going through what you are. I hope I don't have a break down, but I am glad to know I can come here if I do.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
