On Vacation In "paradise", But Peace And Happiness Come From Within...

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am currently in Montego Bay, Jamaica at the Sandals resort and yes... I am on VST from my room. (That' s how addicted I am to this very supportive and knowledgeable forum. LOL) Anyhow, I am having descent time out here, but even it this unimaginable beautiful place of peace and tranquility I realized that true happiness lies from within, not your environment!!! I am pre-op and will be having my surgery exactly 4 weeks from tomorrow and all l can think about is "How much more fun would I have if I was post-sleeve and somewhat near my goal?" I am sure some of you out there have felt the same way. I find myself not being involved as I would like to be, but I am glad that will soon change. I promise to myself, not only get the sleeve, but to work hard to change my life for the better at the same time. Next time I come to "Paradise" I will be bringing Peace and Tranquility with me....

Thanks for listening!!!

Peace and Blessings everyone!!!!

I just got back from a cruise to the Bahamas so I know exactly where you're coming from. I did let my friend take a few pics so I can use them as "before" shots since I usually hide from the camera. I just made myself relax and enjoy it, but I admit I am looking forward to next year when I will be wearing a much smaller swim suit. And I won't be hiding from the camera. I did notice that everyone was so busy having fun, they weren't really paying attention to other people. I hope you will be able to relax and enjoy your vacation in Paradise.

Thanks a bunch. I am definitely doing my best to enjoy this opportunity because this just doesn't happen all the time. Thanks for sharing... Take Care...

So glad you are having this opportunity and build in one for post, too!

I am planning a working trip to Florida in November and am just starting to let it in that I might actually look pretty good while I am there. New place, new people who will only know my new self.

I also will make sure I have a pool to work-out in and an exercise room to continue my journey!

Happiness is from within, but there are paradises to travel to. Enjoy! Bring photos to share!

I just want to add another word of encouragement here. I've read many of your posts--kinda tough to miss a looker in a tux--and you've always been there to cheer others on, give someone a compliment, a kind word, whatever. So, today, when I read that you're four weeks away from your surgery, well,it just really shows how much you've been willing to give to others during your journey. That's pretty inspiring. I'm so glad you're in a beautiful spot that's giving you time to reflect and re-charge.

You're right--peace and tranquility are things we have to carry within. Thanks for reminding me of that and for being so supportive of all of us here. We may have failed in the hunger games alone--but we succeed in the sleeve life together.

Another reason why I'm on this site every single day--and why I'm am a fiercely DeterminedGirl

Hello All,

I am currently in Montego Bay, Jamaica at the Sandals resort

OHMYGOSH, that's where I want to go on vacation when I meet my goal weight!! :D I've been ranting for years about how I've always wanted to go to the Carribean, see blue Water and white sand, but I was always "too fat".

How we limit ourselves!

Thank you from sharing your insight from "paradise"

No problem. Thank you for sharing your story as well. I too have limited myself to certain experiences in life, but what I realized is that the Water is still blue, the sand is still white, and I have to change my state of mind to understand that even in the physical state that I may be in... I too derserve to enjoy these things. You deserve it. We all do!!! Good luck to you in your continued journey.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
