Every surgeon is different, but I had seared ahi today and I'm week 3. It went down well. No rice though The rice is probably why they want you to wait.

I am sooo glad this topic was raised because I am definitely a sushi girl. I was told in a support group meeting prior to my surgery that sushami is the best choice. What about tatare? The earlier recommendation re: the seared tuna appetizer at Bonefish is a great one! I LOVE that place and have had that dish plenty of times! I can't see the seeds causing an issue though... :)

If it weren't for sashimi and/or poke salad, I'd have a hard time getting my Protein in. They're life savers for me. I added sashimi (maguro and salmon) around week 4.

Its ok to try things and see if its tolerated. I advanced my post op diet really fast...I just sampled and moved forward with what worked. You're not going to damage your stomach with the TYPE of food, its how the food processes while briefly in your stomach. Also, after you are healed you can't damage your sleeve with normal eating. You would have to eat in excess to crying pains to even get close to doing anything damaging. Its a common notion on this site when people are fearing they will "stretch out their sleeve" its not going to happen. Now you will have some volume capacity increase a bit once swelling goes down but it will never again be at the size your stomach once was

Best of luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
