Hi all! This is my first post...but I have been reading and learning for a while. I have been studying about the sleeve for months as I know this is my answer. My Dr has his next info session Sept 20 and I am so excited to get started. I was just wondering how long it really takes from your dirt visit or session until your surgery? I have already called my insurance to see what all I need to do to be approved....not just waiting for time to speed up!!!!

Any info or advice would be much appreciated.

I went in for my first visit end of October 2011 and they wanted to do my surgery end of November! I have really good insurance tho, most have to jump thru hoops to get approved, makes no sense to me. I ended up waiting till Feb ( my choice) so I could have enough time off work.

it took me 1.5 months to get all the testing done.....1/2 a month for the company to submit to the insurance...and 4 days for approval. however all insurance company's are different. some require a supervised diet and other stuff. I was lucky cause my friend has the same insurance as me...I got my sleeve approved 2 months before she sent in for approval and the insurance company changed the requirement to a 6 month supervised diet before approval....let me tell you she was pissed! no matter what the wait is though, it is worth every second! :D

I went to a seminar in July and had my consult with the surgeon Aug.16th. I'm scheduled for my pre-op appt Aug.30 and surgery Sept.12. Although I don't know how accurate the surgery date will be as the surgeon hasn't evem submitted to my insurance yet.

From first visit to surgery was 7 months. I had to do the six month supervised diet. Well worth the wait...

I'm trying not to weigh until I go to my follow up appt next week, but I went to get my hair done this morning and my hairdresser screamed that I have lost weight! Woohoo!

Thanks!!! It's hard (at least for me) to have my mind set finally and then have to wait!!!

Oh I hear you there. Been thinking about it for a few years and now that I finally decided to do it, I just want it done! Decided at the end of June, surgery Sept 25. Only reason it's not sooner because my surgeon is all booked up!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
