Has Anyone Had Their Toes/finger Nails Done For Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if anyone had done their toes or nails done before surgery, meaning was it allowed to have your toes painted and can you have on acrylic nails? I'm having my surgery on the 23rd and I just want my hands and feet to look ok if you know what I mean. Hope some ppl don't think this is to silly.

Not a good idea, unless you leave your nails unpainted. The anaesthatist will look at the colour of your nail bed amongst other things, to check oxygen levels so it is important to have no nail varnish on them.

Not silly at all! I know I asked about polish and my surgeon said not even that on my finger nails because of that awesome (haha not) thing you wear on your finger to monitor your blood oxygen level. Good luck with your surgery!!!

I had a manicure and pedicure the day before and put clear nail polish on, the nurse asked me pre op if I had anything on my nails and when I told her it was clear she said that was fine. Hope that helps

I had a mani-pedi done before I left for mexico. No problems there. Acrylic nails may be different?

I got a pedi done the day before surgery because I hate people seeing them when they are not done.

The surgeon and nursing team actually commented on the color and how nice they looked! Made my day.

I had a cute festive pedicure (which I almost never get) just before surgery - it was no problem. I left my finger nails un-painted.

:0)

Good luck!

I also had my toes done. I had nothing on my fingers though. At one point I had an Oxygen sensor on each hand :)

I had a pink and white powder solar on my hands and white tips on my toes....the only issue I had was when I had my nails painted....the anestiaologist told me not to color my nails for the surgery, and I asked if I could atleast do powder, but I wear arylic on my nails for a reason (I'm avery bad nail biter, and I will not bite the arylic, too painful, tried 3 times, ugh)

So ask.....

I had mine done at Kaiser here in So Cal. NO! on painted toes and nails. Other people might say it's o.k., but I personally would NOT have it on ( including clear) in case they have a problem with it. I didn't want to jeopardize anything. I made an appointment for manni and ped about 1 1/2 weeks after the surgery....I really looked forward to it and it felt good. Just my opinion. Good Luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
