Just Sleeved In Mexico

Recommended Posts

Just sleeved 2 days ago in Mexico I am at Mi hospital. My doctor was Dr. Lopez and his wife Dr. Osana. Both great doctors very personable and no complications. Passed both leak tests and I am ready to go back to the hotel for two more days and recoop poolside and maybe do a little sightseeing, lol.

SkyJack1,

I am suppose to be sleeved on Aug. 30th... looking for a buddy and some info on your experience. If you don't mind me asking.

1) Where is Dr. Lopez and Osana?

2) What was the cost?

3) How did you feel after the surgery

4) where was your incision made?

My surgeon is Dr. Pompa-Gonzalez in Tijuana, but i have been unable to find anyone that has been to her in the past year... which is kinda strange.

Hope we can be sleeve buddys!!!! Thanks Aloadoff

It's waaaay cheaper in Mexico. I'm considering going there because I don't have insurance so it's better for me to go to MX. :)

It would be great for me to find a great Dr. in the states who could do the sleeve for $6500 or less.... OMGosh.... I would be sooo happy for that additional option. You must not be a Self Pay....., cause most of the time if your a self pay .... you have to go outside the U.S.

Some insurances don't or won't cover wls. Wls is 5-9000(approx) in mexico compared to 12-22000 in the states. So for most self pays the surgery would be out of reach. Most docs in Mexico have performed more sleeves and longer than most US docs, so its a safe alternative choice for those unable to obtain the surgery here.

I agree with rdoactv. My surgeon (and most of the surgeons from Mexico) have done more sleeves than the top 4 physicians in my area combined. It would be $23000 to have it here compared to $8750 with a surgeon with more experince.

And for me, it was a very scary thought at first to go over to Mexico. I guess because of the unknown and a lot of people putting doubt in my head. This forum has helped me a lot in making my decision! :) I can't wait until I can save up the money to get it done!

Just wanted to give everyone an update I am leak free. I got back to my hotel today and relaxed poolside for a few hours. Then my husband and I hailed a cab and took a 3 hour tour wrapping things up at Tijuania beach. It is breathtaking. My husband got to induldge in the local eats and drinks. I was a bit jealous because I am a foodie although I was not hungry at all. I recommend mexico! I highly recommend Dr. Lopez and his wife Dr. Osana. I paid 4500 and 900 for our plane tickets. I have spent money here but you dont have to if you dont want to. Whatever any one has put in your head about coming to Tijuania is complete BS. it is a great city. People are exteremely nice and accomodating. They completely bend over backwards for you here. I went through the company A lighter me and Janese was my coordinator. By the way my doctor has visited me already today and will be back tommorow. I highly doubt you will get that kind of treatment in the US. My husband got a kidney transplant from Johns Hopkins 2 years ago and said the service here is comparable to the service at Hopkins. The only difference with the states is the doctors have way less experience and often encounter problems and leaks in baraiatric surgery. They have been doing it here for way longer.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
