35 BMI, getting sleeved tomorrow.

At my pre-op appointment today with my doctor, my wife (who doesn't want me to have surgery) went with me. As we were waiting in the lobby, another WLS patient asked my wife how long it had been since I had my surgery! After my wife quit laughing, she told the lady that my surgery is tomorrow.

The lady leaned over and whispered "Weight Watchers". :/

My BMI was 42 in February, 35.4 on surgery day (two weeks ago today), and recovery has been excellent as far as I'm concerned. Went back to work today, felt fine. My incision sites are a little tender to the touch, but healing fine.

Yeah I've tried weight watchers. But ignore people who don't know your situation.

I am I weighed in at a 37 but am now a 35...I am currently concerned about getting approved. Anyone have any advice? My insurance requires 2 preexisting conditions I have high cholesterol documented by my doctor but its not high enough for medicine.

If you are self pay, I guess it's up to your surgeon. For insurance, it usually has to be at LEAST 35 with at LEAST one comorbidity (HTN, Diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol) or 40 with no comorbidity.

This is the same problem i had. plus i had to take 6 months of weight loss (weight watchers, etc) with results. if i had results i was below the bmi they wanted (35). I ended up self-paying in Mexico. I didn't want my health to get worse or jump through 8 months of insurance hoops just to be denied.

Good luck.

I'm a 32 and getting sleeved on Monday by Dr. Rodriguez in Mexico. No matter what I do, I come back to this weight. After 10 years of failing, this is m y choice.

I'm curious what size bougies your surgeons have used and how your recovery has been so far. I'm an considering going to a larger size to minimize complications and to hopefully not have extreme restriction.

I had a light per-op diet, just restrictions on carbs, and told to drink a ton of Water. Post op is 1 week of clears, 1 week of regular liquids, 1 week of mushies. Does that sound right for you other low BMIers?

That is exactly what my post op diet is, although my BMI is 36.6. Luckily, I wont start my preop diet until I am insurance approved, so if I drop below 35 should be OK.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
