I'm probably posting in the wrong spot but I shot for the "mexico" angle. Many sleevers have said that the broth they got in Mexico was the best. I'm trying to stock up on things I would need for post-surgery since I work 2 jobs and will not have time to shop when I return.

Does anybody have a recipe for this magical mexican broth?

Lol, I live in Mexico and maybe if you tell me what kind of broth are you talking about I'd find out the recipe, haha. :tongue2:

Was it chicken? Beef? Beans?

Btw I'm glad you liked mexican food :).

Dorrie,

I see I have similar stats to you before surgery. May I ask how much weight you lost in the first 90 days?

I lost about 50 lbs in the first 3 months. After the 5th month, my weight loss really slowed down. I was getting close to goal. Still am working on losing a couple of lbs still. :)

You look great! I would love to loose 50 lbs. in 3 months. Did you exercise alot? My problem with exercise, as usual, is time. I'm going to try to squeeze in the 30 minute walk daily or atleast the 5 flights of steps.

I was really bad about exercise. I would park further in parking lots and I did go to the gym a few times. I really wish I would have exercised for at least 30 minutes a day. :)

If you guys are talking about the broth at Case de Mole (I think that was the name) it was pretty simple, and I think that what made it good was 1.) we were all starving pre op (LOL) and 2.) we were happy to finally eat post op. LOLOL Seriously though, it had rice and cilantro in it and I think that gave it a little extra flavor. (we couldn't eat the solids, though)

I'm sure it was a home made chicken stock with those goodies in it. :) We also had some broth at another restaurant (Omar said they order it as "sick soup" for VSG patients haha!) that was filled with fresh vegetables and fish. It was terrific as well.

Yeah, I am trying to get the whole broth thing straight too, lol! I have heard some go out to eat, but also heard some hotel has the best....dont know if it was the Marriot or the other hotel I hear a lot about?

The broth at the hotel (lucerna) was just bullion cubes. Nothing special. However, the broth ay Cada de Mole was delicious! I agree with Finding Myself, about the pre and post op comment, but the flavor, no matter how simple, was amazing! And the fresh cilantro gave it a tiny crunch that was very refreshing since, for some of us had been on a purely liquid diet for over two weeks. Id give my big toe for some of that broth right now! ;)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
