I Propose We Start A Thread For June Sleevers That.....

Recommended Posts

I lost pretty fast the first week, but since has been slow. Next week will be two months from surgery and I am down around 35 lbs. Not as fast as many of you, but it is what it is. It is coming off and that is what matters.

New hope - great attitude to have! I struggle daily to remind myself NOT to compare my journey to anyone elses. Easier said than done - but a loss is a loss - great job!

HEY girl! I lost 2.4 lbs last week. Down to 298 now. So over 7 weeks I've averaged 5.8 lbs lost/week - so I CANNOT complain! These stalls in there just mess with your head bad!

How are you doing? scale still moving?

Also' date=' to anyone that cares, my ytube channel is blondeej82 - been doing vlog updates on there! :) check it out if you'd like! :)[/quote']

I'm glad to hear you are doing well, and yes those stalls are killer, and play mind games on ya! But your average is awesome !

The scales are still moving for me, I haven't hit a second stall...yet. I'm looking for it happen soon though. I'm 7 weeks out today and have lost 40lbs. That's an average of 5.71 lbs per week, which is pretty good.

I struggle with this too. As a matter of fact, I just did it after reading the 5.71 average above. It's so hard not too especially when your weight loss slows or stalls.

2 months today down 35lbs... Not as good as I hoped for but I'll take it... 11 more pounds to 299, can't wait to say goodbye to the big 3#... I'm feeling a little lost, I don't have a nutritionist that has a clue bout the surgery and the eating plans, dr. is 3 hrs away and I don't need to see him for couple months... Just wish I had some one to tell me if what I'm doing is good or bad, all info I know has come from this site.

Thought I'd revive this thread.

So far, I'm down 67lbs since surgery on 06/12. However I'm in a stall. Been fluctuating between 210 and 209 for two weeks.

So very frustrating

I feel your pain. I got down to 210 two weeks ago, then shot up to 215. Was back down to 211 today. I have lost about 55 lbs so far. Hoping it starts going back down real soon. I thought I would be in onederland by now, lol.

I hear ya on the weight loss. I started gagging on the prepared Protein Drinks I started because the powders gagged me...ugh. We need Protein to lose weight. Are you still doing protein enhancement everyday? I noticed when I stopped mine my hair started falling out more and my weight loss slowed to a snails pace. So, I ordered the unflaveored stuff in the hopes I can mix it in a glass of iced tea and get it down without gagging. It'll keep happening. Don't let the stalls discourage you. The hardest step was the surgery for me, so that is what keeps me sane and keeping on swimming as Dori says! YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Is anyone still around? If so, how are you doing now? Me: 5 foot tall Started at 215 Now: 130 Goal was 115, but I wonder how that will look... I'm pretty thin right now at 130. I have kind of large muscles and bones... I am going to take it 10 pounds at a time right now. My new goal right now is 122. I had the surgery on June 20, 2012.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
