you're welcome Jlewis!

So I did it yet again... got up, peed, weighed. Wanted to throw myself on the floor and cry. LOL

And to those that mentioned - I also take my measurements once a month. Which means Monday I will be taking my 1 month post-op measurements. I know I've lost inches, obviously losing 30 lbs will do that. But my clothes haven't felt any looser these past 2 (almost) weeks I've been stalled.

Just gotta keep trucking....

I've even thought about doing that fat/calories switch thing that they mentioned in the article... I figure what can it hurt? The scales not moving anyways?! lol

I seem to lose the most inches during the times I stall.

This seems to support the idea that a "stall" is more likely a period of time when your body is adding muscle while losing fat, rather than asking a break & adjusting.

Damn! I weighed myself this morning and the scale didn't move. That stung!

But, I kinda had a feeling it wouldn't. I haven't been drinking as much as i should. Won't make that mistake today!!!

I'm still a "member" here too. I'm still within that same range I can't seem to get out of. Ugh!

Hi all! Completely new to this site...sleeved June 21st and have lost 30lbs so far! Have been at the same number for 4 days now, is that considered a stall?! I haven't started exercising yet and really don't eat much....struggling with getting my Water and Protein down as it is. How long before you can tolerate more than 2 oz at a time?? I am constantly feeling like I took one drink too many...is that normal?

Anyhoo-- glad to have a place where I can find support....the threads and post are all so interesting. Is there a place I should go to officially introduce myself on this site? I'm using the iPad app( which is great).

You are gonna drive yourself nuts with daily weight checks. Just do what you know you are supposed to & check it again next weekend,

Well dog sh*&! I never thought to measure myself before surgery...or sometime before that. I had lost 60lbs before my sleeve last week...have pictures which really paints a nice picture - HA I haven't lost anything since my sleeve - I too jump on the scale every morning after a visit to the porcelin God...teetering just above 300 for a week now. I need to learn how to be more proficient at this technology thing - some of ya'lls signatures and replies have your tickers etc...mine plain and boring. So thankful I stumbled across this website while in the throws of a pity party accompanied by crocodile "what have I done" tears! Feling not alone anymore! Thank you everyone!

I had my surgery June 18th and really really frustrated! totally disgusted and feel I will be the one person who this surgery doesn't work for. I'm getting my Protein in and my liquids and have lost very little weight- i've lost a whole 7lbs since surgery -woohoo (sarcasm). Do I feel a difference in my clothing- absolutely not! the only places I see my weight gone is my face looks slimmer. I'm starting to wonder why I did this. I have been doing everything by the book and would love to have a reward for this but it's going to be 3 weeks tomorrow and I swear if that scale doesn't move I'm gonna scream. Oh by the way I'm not living by the scale as my scale had to be sent back to the manufacturer to be replaced so I'm weighing only once a week at my local Publix. I'm taking my measurements and not seeing much change there either.

Innerme, the best I can tell is you were 211lbs SW? You have a GW of 140 which will bring you to a BMI of 22.59. The unfortunate reality is, with 71lbs to lose, you simply are not going to see those massive numbers you've come accustom to reading from higher BMI patients. You are doing fine. Today marks 3weeks fron your surgury, and you've averaged over 2lb per week. I definitely understand your frustration, but as the 12 steppers say, "it works if you work it " Just keep following your diet, exercise, & try to keep a positive mindset.

I'm willing to bet money that at your nine month mark you will eithe be at goal or so close to it.

Wolf girl - ME TOO. It was only a pound, but the first movement I've seen in 2 weeks... I am scared to get too excited and have it go back up tomorrow?!?!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
