Did you wake up with a catheter in?

I will be sleeved in two days, but that was something I forgot to ask.

Thanks in advance

Yep. I was happy to have it, too, because it meant I didn't have to try to get up and maneuver with my IV pole to the bathroom nonstop. lol.

If you need a foley, you will get it most likely while u are asleep in surgery.

From what I've heard it really depends on the surgeon. It's so varied. That and drains- seems like its different for everyone. I'm still pre op and I'm hoping I don't have a cath, but I've had one years ago when I had knee surgey and it's not THAT bad.

No didnt have one but you can request it be taken out before you are awake if you want to. Most drs will try to accomadate a patients wishes. My dr wanted me up walking the halls within 2 hours after recovery, so leaving a cath in would have been pointless.

Lol I still my residual too! My cath went in while I was out and it came out as soon as I took a walk. I remember telling my nurse 30 min after surgery that I wanted to walk. She said ” boy u r fast” lol! It was taken out shortly after my walk. It wasnt too painful.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
