June 26, 201214 yr Did you wake up with a catheter in? I will be sleeved in two days, but that was something I forgot to ask. Thanks in advance
June 26, 201214 yr Yep. I was happy to have it, too, because it meant I didn't have to try to get up and maneuver with my IV pole to the bathroom nonstop. lol.
June 26, 201214 yr From what I've heard it really depends on the surgeon. It's so varied. That and drains- seems like its different for everyone. I'm still pre op and I'm hoping I don't have a cath, but I've had one years ago when I had knee surgey and it's not THAT bad.
June 26, 201214 yr Yep - mine was put in while I was in surgery and came out the day after.... still have the residual of the stupid tape though... that stuff hangs on for ever!

June 26, 201214 yr No didnt have one but you can request it be taken out before you are awake if you want to. Most drs will try to accomadate a patients wishes. My dr wanted me up walking the halls within 2 hours after recovery, so leaving a cath in would have been pointless.

Lol I still my residual too! My cath went in while I was out and it came out as soon as I took a walk. I remember telling my nurse 30 min after surgery that I wanted to walk. She said ” boy u r fast” lol! It was taken out shortly after my walk. It wasnt too painful.
