  1. I love menudo and pozole and they both contain hominy. I was wondering if hominy is the same as corn. Can our sleeve digest it?? Has anyone tried it?

    I Am Incredibly Lazy!

I have zero motivation to work out. I have paid for my gym membership for three years now and have only gone for a total of like three weeks. What do you guys do to encourage yourselves to work out??? Please advice!!

    Carbs, Carbs, Carbs!

This is what I do too. I never wanted to live the rest of my life feeling as I was on a diet. I just wanted to eat less! Before my surgery I could eat five slices of an extra large pizza. I just wanted to eat less and that is what I do now. I do stay away from pastas and breads and I do focus on protein but I do not deny myself foods like ice cream whenever I'm on the mood.

    Ladies Only Question...

I've lost 50lbs with 50 to go. mine have not gotten smaller, they are still d's but since my belly has gotten way smaller they are looking bigger. Hubby is very happy right now :-)
  5. wow that is great! I am 3 months out and I have lost 50 lbs which I am super happy about. You are doing great!!! Its fantastic that you follow the diet. I went on vacation two weeks ago and I gained weight, but lost it immediately a week after I returned. Keep up the great work, you look beautiful!!
  6. Thanks for your compliments everyone! They truly mean a lot to me. I really do enjoy the camera more now. I cannot wait to continue to take pictures so that I can continue to track my progress. I wish all of you the best!
  7. Here are my pictures. This is very hard for me to post. I have always avoided pictures due to hating how fat my face looks. I recently went on vacation and decided to take a lot of pictures. I have lost 47 lbs since surgery on 6/18 and so far I am so happy with the results. Well, here it goes. My face and body before and after pictures. Ps. The gorgeous lady in the red is my sis Hilda! I hope to be as thin as her one day!

    Med Alert Bracelet

    I just ordered mine yesterday!
  12. so I tried to kick the habit twice already because my surgeon and NUT insist that I give it up because it causes ulcers. I quit twice but my energy level got so low that I could not function. Honestly, I do not want to work or do anything, just sleep or watch tv. Yesterday my energy was so low, to the point that I almost fell asleep during a meeting, that I decided that just for that day I will drink it... WELL! after drinking my coffee, I completed all my reports (due at the beginning of the month), ran with my dog and went to Home Depot after work. I have not had the energy to work out and after coffee I ran! I just don't understand how or why I need coffee to keep me going. My quality of life improves so much when I am on caffeine. I have almost convinced myself that having an ulcer would be worth it if I could just have the energy I get from coffee. Have any of you experience this? For those who have been sleeved for over a year, do you drink coffee and have you gotten an ulcer? Does anyone have any experience with getting energy from certain types of foods w/out caffeine? FYI: I take all my Vitamins and I sleep 7-8 hours a night. Thanks in advance for your help. Veroncia
  13. I agree, I think they try to shock you. My sleeve is not temperamental at all and at the beginning I was afraid to do anything because what my surgeon, nut and case manager told me. I generally like to follow doctors order but sometimes I gotta do what I gotta do... in this case, it's my coffee!
  14. Thanks! I just got back from going on a cruise and just realized that this thread was revived.
  15. Thanks for the advice. I have been blessed with no issues with stomach acid. Prior to surgery I only got indigestion when I ate greasy food. Thankfully, I am not a fan of the grease!
  16. Boy you ain't kidding it's DIFFICULT! I am currently drinking 1 mug (1.5 cups) of coffee every morning with splenda and sf creamer. I was hoping that with the weight loss I would gain energy, however, my energy level has suffered greatly after surgery. I have ZERO motivation to work out. I truly believe that if I start to workout I can gain energy and kick the coffee habit... I just need the motivation

    First Time (Tmi)

Yes Mina I did feel better, Thanks! As for food being stuck, I feel the same, like the food is stuck in my esophagus! It only happens when I eat dinner with my family. I think I try to keep up with them and I always make myself feel sick. I am glad to hear you are feeling better! I guess walking is the remedy
  18. I officially vomited before I finished my food. I am 2 months out and I have never fully vomited. I spit up and I get slimmies but today I full on barfed. The only thing I have done differently today is skip lunch. I just forgot to eat lunch. When I came home, I had 2-3 oz of pork loin (very tender-I've ad it before) 1 oz cole slaw (also had it before). This is weird. I feel fine. Not sure if it was because I skipped lunch. Anyone have any thoughts?

    First Time (Tmi)

Hi Mina, I stopped eating cottage cheese because whenever I had it for lunch, I felt extremely hungry before dinner. As for the barfing, I might have ate too fast because I had skipped lunch and I must have been starving! I don't get the hunger feeling anymore so maybe my body was reacting to my hunger. Thanks for responding Mina! I hope you feel better too.

    Sliming Question?

I'm 7weeks post op and started sliming 6 weeks post op. I though it was because I was eating too fast but then noticed that it was happening when I ate meat. Today, for example, I had skinless chicken thigh and pinto beans with cheese. I started w/my chicken and immediately started slimming! I stopped eating it and just ate the beans and cheese and I was able to finish my meal, well minus the chicken. Not sure what that is about...

What I Ate On Vacation (Sleeved July 2Nd)

Hi Shannon, I will be going on a cruise 2.5 months out of surgery. I have been nervous about all the food that I will have access to. I am glad to hear you enjoyed yourself and at the end of the day that is all that matters (unless you hurt yourself I guess ). I plan on doing the same because I only vacation once a year and I'm just going to enjoy myself. I have learned that I cannot over do it because my sleeve won't let me. Best of luck to you! & good for you!!
