I had a cold a week before surgery too, I stayed in bed, took sudafed and Benadryl. It's really up to the anesthesiologist, your lungs have to be clear. Good luck

thanks! hoping it's short-lived and doesn't move into my chest. I'll call my surgeon Monday if it's not better or if HAS moved into my chest.

holy crap' date=' I cannot catch a break! my 17 month old daughter has had a cold all week and guess who now has it? Yup, 6 days before surgery and I have a cold. I'm hoping I can rest it off this weekend. If I still feel bad Monday I'll call the surgeon. I'm so upset and hoping this doesn't mean I can't have surgery next week. :([/quote']

Load up on Vitamin C & be sure to take a regular Multivitamin EVERY DAY. I do & haven't had a cold in years.

Is anyone who is ready sleeved emotionally miserable? I'm having such a rough few days. I don't want to eat I just want to sleep. It's like I quit smoking cold turkey and post partum depression. I'm in such a funk! Anyone else? I was sleeved the 16th.

You sound perfectly normal. I am 3 1/2 weeks post. But one week out I felt I was going crazy being stuck in the house, had no desire to eat or drink. They say it has to do with the anesthesia leaving your body and hormones. But just take it one day at a time. I slept with a bottle Water and had to set the alarm to remind me to eat. And taking mini walks outside helped a lot! Now I feel great and have mostly forgotten how yucky I felt the first week. Hang in there and just take one day at a time. And don't worry to much on hitting that 64oz a day liquid and Protein mark. I still struggle but everyday I get closer. Good luck!

Thanks for all the comments. I was sleeved Oct. 23. I have a lot of gas and stomach pain. I also fight to drink and not sleep all day especially since I can't sleep at night. Hope I made the right decision.

I know what you are going through! I am still gassy. Can't yet tolerate yogurt so I'm having 2 shakes (Costco's Premier brand Pre-made, 30 gs. Protein,) Soup with skim milk and Crystal lite with unflavored Protein added. I'm starting to really miss chewing! The thought of a nice healthy green salad makes me drool lately! I take an afternoon nap (like now) then I'm up til about 11:30-midnight. I only sleep 2-3 hours. Today I finally slept unti 4:50 am, but all week I woke up at 2:30 wide awake and unable to go back to sleep. By 1 pm I'm exhausted, especially if I go out (went to Marshall's this morning. Retail therapy works wonders, but I find shopping of any kind to be exhausting!) I try to limit my afternoon nap to 1-/2 hours max. since I can't sleep through the night. I even take Tylenol pm and I'm still not sleeping longer than 4 hours straight tops. Could it be the diet? I'm on zero caffien and ni Vitamins yet til next week!

Could be I had I high weight to start with, my highest weight was 301, now I am at 256, 275 pre-op, they say the bigger you are the faster you lose or my scale is off...lol. At least you are doing good with your Protein, I cannot get the shakes down, I just drink Water (and no where near the 64 ozs), Crystal Light and Soup, I run out of energy pretty early. Good luck :)

Could be the calorie make up of your drinks. I'm drinking Isopure but its so big I can only drink half a day. My husband lost a lot of weight and he swears exercise is the key. Start small and see if that helps.

My surgery was 18th and although I feel pretty good, I can not drink the shakes either..I was really worried about not getting any protein in, but i was told just try and concentrate on not getting dehydrated. Yesterday something just changed and I was able to drink plain water, before i could not tolerate it maybe i will try a shake again tomorrow. And i am with you on the energy..it doesnt last very long.

i am in San Angelo' date=' too! We aren't bad people once you get to know us <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />.[/quote']

Hi neighbor! I haven't found ANY bad about San Angelo! I love it! It's just a major culture shock coming from Florida! Not used to cowboy hats and boots except in a country bar and in FL the Mexican community...most do not speak English, have no desire to, and expect someone to speak their language. The first time we went to a Mexican Restraunt I was standing at the counter waiting for my Spanish fluent husband to speak on our behalf and the ladies began talking to me in better English than myself! Lol it caught me so off guard! Everyone is so polite and its just so different. But, I definitely love it and wish I would have moved there sooner!

Have you been sleeved yet? If so where? I have to follow up with someone there. I'm told ill need to go to San Antonio? Would love to chat and maybe get together sometime to walk if your ever up to it! Let me know!

Jillb - are you sure you're getting enough calories? Your body might be in starvation mode? You may need to up your calories a bit. I can't imagine 2 shakes a day are enough.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
