New Band To Sleever Here

Recommended Posts

Hi I jsut got my band to sleeve revision on May 29th. Recovery is good so far and I'm looking foward to going on this journey with other band to sleevers. I only lost 25 lbs with the band so I'm worried the sleeve won't work either but I'm following the plan well so far so hopefully i'll get to goal. I didn't have any problems with the band, it jus didn't control my apetite. My doctor said they sleeve would help with hunger so I'm hoping he's right. So far I've had no hunger bit its only been a few days since surgery.

I also noticed the side effect that i'm not "hot" all the time anymore. I saw that someone else posted about this and its true! I love this side effect, especially since its summer in Texas for me!

I look foward to getting to meet ya'll :-)

Hi--I will say that I had more pain with revision I think...but it has been 3 years so i'm not sure how accurate my memory is. Its wasn't that much more pain though. I'm glad I had the one night stay in the hospital though because the nurses really took good care of me. I was up and moving and had to go to the bathroom about every 2 hours after surgery due to the IV bags. My surgery was Tuesday and today is Thursday and I'm still taking pain meds but I think today will be my last day of pain meds. Its really not that bad. Most of the pain in the beginning was gas pain, not incision pain. They only time I have pain now is when I get up or sit down.

So, overall, its not too bad. Hope that helps :-)

Kspye, congrats and good luck with the sleeve. I am trying to remember and keep in mind that the sleeve is only a tool. How I use the tool is up to me. I still need behavior modification and work on getting my Protein in first and foremost, then my vegetables, my Water and then complex carbs to for energy.

Sleeves can be stretched and like people with Gastric Bypass, they can gain weight, there is so many different variables in making the sleeve work for you. Not drinking with your meal, staying away from carbonation (including wine coolers, beers, pop, tonic Water, champagne) all things, staying away from juices.

As the days get closer to the sleeve, more the nervous I am getting, but I am chanting to myself, the sleeve is only a tool, the way I use the tool determines if I succeed.

Best of luck to you.

Congrats on your revision! Not "running hot" all the time is a real change for me too! I'm going to have to crochet myself some shawls pretty soon just to stay warm!

Kspye, congrats!! I hope u recovery quickly. I had the Band removed in Feb - hated all 4 years of it & had the Sleeve 4/24/12. Although it has not been easy I would do it all over again. I love the Sleeve!!! I'm not losing weight fast but I've already lost more with the sleeve than I did with the Band & I'm only 5 1/2 weeks post op!!! It's definitely a learning experience so be patient, do everything your nutritionist & doctors say & u will do well. Best wishes!!

My band was removed June 2011 and my revision is 6-27. I was 213 and down to 134. Now I am 170. I hate it. Can't lose despite following a very strict 1200 cal diet. Can't wait to be on the losing team. Congrats to all revision people!!

I had a band and lost 80 pounds with it. I had to have emergency surgery to get it removed because of a slip in December 2010. I put on about 30 pounds by the following November and could not get approved through my insurance. The excuse insurance gave for the denial was that I did not weigh enough; they were treating me as if I was new to bariatric surgery. After a 2nd level appeal, I was granted approval finally in May 2012. I look forward to my sleeve on July 17th!

so far recovery has been smooth. Today is day 4 after surgery and I was out and driving today and off pain meds (I never would have believed that on day 2!) I just keep sipping and sipping crystal light and getting in the Protein Shakes.< /p>

And, I've lost 4 pounds--yeah! That's huge after a 3 year stall with the band!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
