Frank Borao, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Frank J. Borao specializes in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. He is board certified and fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery. His areas of expertise include bariatric (weight loss) and gastro-esophageal reflux surgery. He also specializes in solid organ removal (kidney, adrenal, spleen and pancreas), cancer resection (esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum), hernia repair and complex re-operative procedures. Dr. Borao received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry followed by a general surgery residency. He then completed a fellowship at the renowned Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery – New York Medical College In 2000, Dr. Borao became the director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center. He has pioneered various surgical techniques and has published in several journals including authoring a textbook chapter on laparoscopic gastric bypass. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Borao was named in the Guide to Americas Top Surgeons, the Castle Connolly Guide – Americas Top Doctors, listed in New Jersey Monthly Magazine under Top Doctors, and Top Docs in the New York Metropolitan area. Dr. Borao is an assistant professor of surgery at Drexel University School of Medicine. His professional affiliations include the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons
