3 weeks but I went back on light duty (desk). I'm n law enforcement so although I was ok to go back to a desk job I didn't feel healed enough to wear my gun belt with all the extra equipment on it so that's the reason for the light duty. I could probably have gone back after 2 but took one more. I found that it was a little uncomfortable sitting at a desk fir 8 hrs so I had to get up n walk around frequently. I'm still on light duty until around mid June.

I think it depends on the type of job you have. I was cleared after 3 weeks but went ahead and took 5 weeks. I'm bored and so ready to go back mentally but physically I'm glad I took the extra time.

Had my surgery on a Wednesday (early) - released from hospital Friday - worked at home on Monday and returned to the office Tuesday. Like others, I have a desk/office job and had schedule flexibility to work shorter days the first week I went back. I was pretty tired but otherwise didn't have much pain or other issues.

I went back at 6 days post-op ... surgery was May 23, back on May 29...I was fine to be back, not on pain med's and just sipping...I credit most of my ability to do that to being in fairly good cardio shape but mostly to my belly button to thighs being numb from my abdominoplsty, I literally just feel like some of my "incisions/punctures" are bruises... take all the time that you need and the doc suggests, I looked at this as being very minor compared to plastics where I was off work for 4 weeks, could have gone back after 2 but was starting a new job.

I took two weeks away from the office, but worked from home answering emails and participating in a few conference calls week two. Week three I went back full time, but was at work by 6:30 am so I could leave early as I was pretty tired by the afternoon. This week, though (week four), I feel great, but I'm also eating a few more calories so I have more energy.

I went back exactly a week afterwards...Tuesday actually. I have a very high paced job and on my feet all day. I'm very exhausted in the mornings and haven't figured out why that is but afternoons are fine. I would think everyone is different for sure. My doc said no lifting heavier than gallon milk for 2 weeks then not over 25 lbs for another two weeks. Good luck!

Hello,

I wanted to know how soon many of you were able to return to work? Yes I know it depends on how each person heals because everyone is different. I would like to see the numbers. So 5 days? 2 weeks? Please share.

Thanks

I have an important desk job where the work doesn't get done unless I am doing it, so I did not want to add heaps to do upon return, so I only took 3 days off. I had surgery on Wednesday and was back to work on Monday. I expected to be home from the hospital Thursday, but I could barely drink anything so they made me stay until Friday. Saturday and Sunday, I bummed around the house, healing and walking, but by Monday, I was back to myself. Do what you can handle.

I have a desk job and I went to work 4 days after surgery. I had literally no problems at all. Didn't even have to take pain medicine after discharge.. I stayed one night in the hospital and was discharged the next morning. I was walking at my own request 1 hour after being put in my room from recovery. I fully understand that not everyone was like this but for me , the surgery was very easy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
