Way to go Tibby :-) can you share some of your will power and strength? Lol

You bet!!! Sending you the will power and strength at this very moment. I think much like weight loss - if we work together through this - we can make it. Shame to go to all this trouble to be healthy and then continue to smoke. And my husband smokes as do many of the people I work with. I'm not going to let that detur me :)

I cant say enough about quitnet. com for people trying to quit. There is no charge for the basic and my understanding is that many states and canada pay for a premium membership. It is a lot like this site. The community is amazing. I dont think I would be quit for 5 months without them. I was a hard core smoker and at first decided that after the surgery I would start smoking again. Now I can honestly say I will never light another one. I love how I feel now, cant wait to see how its gonna be once I lose this weight!

My surgeon required me to quit. I'm on day 12 of no smoking. It hasn't been easy, and smoking is on my mind a lot. I'm using the patch...and Charms suckers, lol. My husband also quit to support me.

My surgeon told me that besides the healing issues, that smoking also makes you prone to stomached ulcers and having ulcers in a stomache the size of a banana is not a good thing.

Way to go girls!!! I'm proud of those of us that have quit. And I was hard core too - I really enjoyed smoking. But heck, I haven't had one for the OAS three days - why start back up? It doesn't even sound good to me

I don't smoke, but I will just pass along that my doctor told our pre-admissions class that they test for nicotine in the blood and urine on the morning of surgery. I kind of thought, That seems a bit extreme. I bet they don't really do it, it's just a scare tactic. I tend to be a bit skeptical, heh. Anyway, sure enough, I went to the hospital on the morning of surgery and the admissions staff confirmed I had orders for blood and urine samples, specifically to test for drugs, alcohol and tobacco/nicotine.

I will say this - my surgeon took very, very great pride in his work and didn't look too kindly on increased chance of complication due to smoking when we were given clear expectations to quit. Whether it's because your surgeon cares about you, or cares about his stats,... if they say no, they don't mess around!

I puff on it maybe once or twice a week when stressed!!! I still LOVE to stand beside someone who is smoking though....so the urge hasn't completly left me just yet!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
