boots321 reacted to O.T.R. sleever in 2 Month Stall!? Really?Best explanation I've been able to find on the first stall is:
During the first couple weeks after surgery you are not getting much protien, so your body actually consumes some of your bodys muscle to fuel itself. This also helps to explain the rapid weight loss during the first couple weeks.
Then somewhere around the third week you start consuming more protien, at this point your body starts rebuilding the muscle it has lost.
You are still losing fat, but the muscle you are regaining ofsets the weightloss. This is why you are better measuring your progress with a tape measure rather than a scale.

boots321 got a reaction from flbelle29 in Recovery House Vs. HotelThe recovery house was full when I was there so we ended up at the hotel wothout a choice. Hotel was great! Very relaxing and the front desk keeps an endless supply of the frozen icies! I am planning to go back as soon as I get my surgery loan paid off and have a little nip here and a tuck or two there! Mexico baby....its the only way to go!

boots321 reacted to rvpcindi in Coordinaters Who Talk Smack..Like Boots, I too was sleeved in Tiajuana by Dr. Almanza at Jerusalem Hospital...i was there a few days prior to her..May 26 was original surgery date but when the ekg showed i had some irregular heart beats, they possed 3 alternatives...go back home and see cardiologist, wit til monday and see one in tj, or they could try to find one that would see me on the weekend and read the holter monitor test. i opted for them to go ahead and find someone wuickly as the other 2 would probably cost more in the long run. they found a cardiologist to hook me up on saturday evening and then to take it off and read on sunday morning....by 2 i was in surgery with meds to help the problem so i could go ahead with the surgery....my ex is a doctor and went with o make sure all was well there. he was impressed with the care and treatment of all the patients he saw there and going to and from the recovery house and the hotel...heard nothing but good things and saw nothing irregular...i was lucky to have a private suite right outside the surgical area since they needed to watch me....when the leak test was done for the group i ended up having surgery with, there were no leaks and we were all happy for that...only thing i think they could have done differently that would have made it better was to tell us to drink that nasty purple stuff for the leak test to drink it thru a straw so our teeth wouldnt get stained!!! on the way driving home we stopped at our regular mexican dentist near yuma to get it removed from my teeth....i needed to have a filling fixed to so it wasnt like i made a special trip for the dye...I would, and have, recommended him to others. they have a very competant staff..lupita found my vein first poke and i have had many horror experiences here in the states with them trying to poke me....since its family run, it was great to see the nephews helping out by getting us ice chips and kissing their uncles respectfully goodbye when they left....all visitors that came with the patients were invited to participate in the luncheon that was bought in for the staff before surgery started...i got a good look at some of the food as it went by...i opted for the hotel which was a bargain at 55 a night...gourmet chef on staff...all the broth and popcicles we wanted and close to shopping so went walking easily...there was a beauty shop practically next door so i treated myself to a shampoo...made me feel human again...and the girl there ran to the corner and got me a popcicle at the 7-11 type store to make my experience even nicer there! The mexican doctors have been doing this surger for 7 years now...way more than their U.S. counterparts...and yet they get a bum rap all the time....

boots321 reacted to noelaniskyful in My Boyfriend Left MeI know you say that he was supportive of your surgery, but was he really? Just because he said that doesn't make it true. You are transforming yourself, not everyone will be as happy for you as you might hope. But, you made the step towards life. You will have a long, healthy life to watch your son grow up. So, get it together girl! First thing! You must physically heal. Rest yes, but get out of that bed and walk, play with your son, hell, try on some new clothes! Tell yourself how beautiful and amazing you are. The first man in your life, is that little boy. Watch him while he's watching you. What do you see? Pure adoration, I'm sure. Breathe, meditate, nourish yourself and accept love from yourself. In a couple of weeks, get some help and find yourself somewhere more affordable to live. Get rid of anything that's not benefiting you anymore. Like my grandma used to say, when things get rough, put your lipstick on and keep going. Best wishes.

boots321 got a reaction from mizzliz83 in Coordinaters Who Talk Smack..I agree. You should contact Dr. Kelly’s office directly and report their coordinators actions immediately! Coordinators are there to make your experience as easy and painless as possible, not to put doubt and worry in your head! Sounds a little like a begrudged coordinator to me and she’s trying to get even by badmouthing!
I CAN TELL YOU FIRST HAND FROM EXPERIENCE that I was sleeved at Jerusalem Hospital by Dr. Almanza on May 31st and would recommend them to EVERYONE! Took excellent care of me and the 8 other ladies there at the time! I have had no problems or regrets at all!
THANKS Dr. Almanza and Dr. Bendecourt! I loved you guys!!!

boots321 reacted to Sassygirl06 in I Want To Cry For HerI have been looking back at some old pictures of myself at the heaviest weight that I was....and I cant help but want to cry for that woman I see in the pictures. I remember how sad she was. She hated herself everytime she looked in the mirror. She felt judged everytime she ate in public, or did anything in public. She felt like she didnt belong in her own family because they were all thin, and she was so fat. She felt so desperatly trapped, and didnt know what to do to get out. I dont miss her, I just feel sad for her, and want to cry for her because it took so long to get out of her prison.
Now the person that I am is a free woman. No longer am I scared to eat in public, or be seen with my family. I love shopping, and dont feel like all the skinny women in stores are asking why I even bother shopping. I have energy, and sass. I want to do everything now....no more hiding! I am sexy, and my husband cant keep his hands off of me !!!!
For anyone who is unsure if they should take this drastic measure to get everything back, and stop being in your own prison......DO IT! My only regret is that I didnt free that woman sooner.
Thank God for the sleeve!

boots321 got a reaction from healinghands50 in Is This Normal?I mixed apple juice and water together instead of plain ole water. It was room temp too! I've actually hear of people setting an alarm or timer and take a sip every 5 minutes in the beginning just to make sure they dont dehydrate! SIP, SIP, SIP.....IT WILL GET EASIER!!!

boots321 reacted to emily_0192010 in StallYup! Stalls happen!! I'm 9 months out and just hit a stall as well. Think of it this way...your body should be using this time to "readjust"... you should start to lose inches and/or your clothes will fit differently. The numbers on the scale aren't everything! It will move eventually, but keep calm knowing that your sleeve is taking care of you while your body has a mini hissy fit.

boots321 reacted to AliveAgain in Water...the Musical. The only time I had to sip Water was the first two weeks. Then I could take bigger sips in the next few weeks. By about 5-6 weeks out, I was back to drinking water just like I did before surgery. Now I can take multiple sips in rapid succession, and I rarely "gulp" it down unless I'm out exercising in really warm weather.
Isopure counts, but try it first. I couldn't stand the stuff, left a weird aftertaste in my mouth for hours like someone rubbed my tongue on dirt.

boots321 got a reaction from futureskinnypants in I Hate EverybodyYes, I was the same exact way! I could take your head off in one swipe!!! Wasn't sure I was making the right choice, was the heaviest I've ever been, was ashamed to be seen in public, snapped off everyone's heads including family!
It's common.....It;s your nerves! This will be the best choice you'll ever make....TRUST ME!!!
Just warn everyone that your a little on the grouchy side and to stay outa your way! You'll be fine!!!
21 pounds gone in just over 2 weeks!

boots321 got a reaction from Mimismom in I Hate EverybodyYes, It will be here and over with before you know it! Hang in there and just remember that hormones and carb withdrawls can do weird things to your body! You may also expect the same afterwards because those hormones are stored in the fat you'll be shedding. Just take a deep breath and remember it's not you....it's your hormones and you'll be just fine!
