September Bandsters

Calling all upcoming bandsters...

I just wanted to start a thread where everyone can post their surgery dates and we can start to compare notes.

I am scheduled for 9/12. I have ALL my pre-op stuff next Wed & Thurs, including psych eval, sleep consult, lab work, 4 hr nutrition class, and pre-op appt with surgeon. It is going to be a couple of very full days.

My parents are coming for a visit the following week, and I don't plan on telling them about the surgery, so I am rushing to get through all of that before they get here.

How is everyone else doing getting their pre-op stuff scheduled?

Here is the list of September Bandsters: I'll try to keep it updated for everyone.

I am doing all my pre-op next week also. ( Also chaning jobs maybe, will have to by Cobra to be covered for my band.. YIKES more stress! ) Pysc on Monday, nutrition on Wed. Hoping they will call with a Sept date after that . They told me they were booked up until the 2nd wk of Sept. So I am thinking 3rd or 4th week of Sept. I am excited and nervous all at once. I almost feel like staying at this boring Job just so I know everything is covered and I can miss work for all my appointments.

My surgery date is 9/21, with pre-surgical testing and clearance from my PCP one week before. I have a 2 week liquid stage prior to surgery. :faint: Not the worst, but I have a wedding in the middle and I'd rather not be tempted. But otherwise I am very excited, a little nervous, and getting very psyched to regain energy!

Best wishes to everyone~~~~~~~

Hi Everyone,

I Am Scheduled For Sept. 7 At 1pm. Just Finished All The Required Medical Clearances Today (psych, sleep Study, Pulmon And Heart Specialists, Etc.)

I Started A Protein shakes And Bars Diet On July 18 So I Am Looking Forward To Be On The Other Side And Eat Real food.

I Am Scheduled For Pre-op Testing Next Wednesday Along With 3rd Appt With Surgeon And His Team Of Professional.

Not Yet Nervous About The Surgery (had A Laparoscopy Done 5 Years Ago For Gallbladder And It Was Bearable!).

Right Now I Am Only Enjoying Being Done With The Round Of Specialists... What A Releif.

Ciao... For Now.

Bibytiz,

Did you lose the 31lbs since the liquid/bar diet in July? That is amazing to lose that in a month pre - banding. You must be so psyched!

My band date is September 19th. I can hardly wait, but however, I do not want summer to be over. Ive been thru 12 weeks of what we call New Start which consists of nutrition education, and also 6 weeks of Behavorial classes with the psychiatrists. I also had to have my gall bladder out which pushed my surgery date 4 weeks. I go to a local support group for WLS people twice a month.

Hi Want2lose,

Yes I Did Lose The Weight Before Surgery. I Am Now At -34#. I Am Indeed Extremely Psych, Just Could Not Stand The Choking Belly Anymore. Was So Tired Of Pulling On My Clothes And Being Out Of Breath...

The Total Amount Of Calorie Intake With The Protein Diet Is Bet. 800 And 1000 A Day (closer To 800 On Most Days).

Good Luck To Us All September Patients.

Ciao... For Now

(sorry For The Delayed Reply, Could Not Access This Site Yesterday All Day)

I have spent the last week eating everything I can get my hands on. I'm pretty sure when I go for my pre-op appt on Thurs, I will be put on a liquid diet, so I keep telling myself this is my last chance to enjoy ______. I truly am my own worst enemy.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
