How Long Did It Take For Approval?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have BCBS of NC. My paperwork was submitted and approved one week later. This just depends on how slow the company is moving, and if they have all the paper work that is needed at the time. I know it is hard because you are nervous, but you will have your approval soon :) Blessings, and good Luck!

I have Aetna and it was approved very quickly, however, I am being treated for diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, so I imagine that has a lot to do with it. My husband is not diabetic, but he has a lot more to lose, so his approval was pretty much automatic as well, BUT, we do have a 3 month wait before surgery which will include 3 classes, a sleep study, cardiac screening, and since I have been treated for depression, I also have to have a psych evaluation. Due to my husband's size, the doctor wants him to lose as much weight as possible BEFORE surgery, to decrease the chance of complications.

@augustkiwi

You have made my day! I also have cigna and was thinking they'd take a month to 45 days for approval.

I think it's really dependent on who's desk it falls on. After I handed my paper work in I got a call a week later to schedule my appointment a month and a week later. Either way, good luck sunshine...

I kept a sensible diet with the help of my nutritionist, then two week before surgery my doc put me on an all liquid diet. I'm a week and a day out of post op, so far so good :). Prior to all liquid diet I did a lot of seafood and steamed rice, and also made sure I had decent Breakfast so that I was not so hungry during the day and plenty of liquids... :)

I med with the nut 5 of my six times, we got weighed and discussed health stuff - like fats, Protein, real hunger, carbs, etc. I met one on one for the first 3, these last 3 are group setting with Q & A time.

She said the surgeon would like us to lose 20-25 pounds, but if we don't meet that in the 6 month meetings, it will happen when we go on the pre-op diet.

Cool. Thanks everyone. It looks like one week is average. Just trying to get an idea of the possible dates I can get for surgery, after my last PCP visit.

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
