That's great news Aussie Kelloff about being cleared to try and have another baby. You must be so excited and you have done so well with you weight loss to date :)

My hubby keeps asking me if we can try for No. 5 (typical Samoan with huge families) I already have 2 teenage sons and 2 daughters, youngest is 10 and now wants another baby. I keep saying 'no more babies coming out of this body under construction' and just want some us time to travel and live now - which I can after this surgery :)

Kelliv - you are looking awesome and don't worry about the exercise routine to much with your busy schedule at the moment. Will have to get together soon xx

Lila, I agree with Kelli - would love to see an updated pic of you and I love to see the progress of you all along the way:)

Dean - I have been with Liquor Licensing since 1997, starting in the Mt Isa office and transferred to Brisbane office in 1999 and here ever since. Done many ops with Police over the years

Hope you all have a great day :)

Hi Lila, great news about you going back to work, but try to take it slowly. What did they all say about your weight loss to date? I would love to see an updated photo as I am sure your face already looks different. Have you bought any new new clothes to wear to work?

Hi Kelliv - it's kind of funny, no one came and said too much outright which was really kind of funny. A few of the old ladies in the canteen said something though. Everyone was really nice at work, very caring and welcoming. Cause I have so much to lose, I don't think it looks like I have lost as much as I have - well I can't really see it. I am always surprised by what the scales say anyway. With clothes, a lot of my stuff still kind of fits, just is quite baggy. And I had a few things in smaller sizes in the cupboard so I have been able to wear that stuff. I went from a size 26-28 to a size 22 (in most things - bought a skirt from Millers in a 22 that didn't fit on the weekend which was a bit of a bummer lol- should have tried it on first). I think the next 10-15 kilos is when people will really start to notice. That will take me to around 115kg which I haven't been since I was at uni :) And that was quite a while ago! It should also get me into size 20 clothes which will be really nice!!

Hi Lila, that was a bit of a strange reaction after everything you have gone through. It's fantastic you can already see the dress sizes coming down. I've given a lot of clothes away and some of my better things I've just had taken in massively and already they are starting to feel loose again. I will try and hold off getting them taken in further until I lose another 10kgs. Just have to put up with baggy clothes for a little longer but I am not complaining.

yeah it was a bit odd - I just think that they weren't sure what to say so they ignored it :) I don't mind, eventually they'll say something - or they won't. I don't really care so much. Decided to listen to the advice from you guy's and not go into work today...was so exhausted that I slept for 10 hours last night and am still dragging my feet so I'll have today off and go in again tomorrow. Luckily my work is very flexible around that kind of thing!!

I have updated my profile photo - not sure if you can tell all that much - I really don't see a dramatic change but later I'll put up my before photo for comparison :)

I went back to work 10kg down (5 weeks post op) and I had a few strange looks with them trying to figure out what was different.

Lila...you can tell. You look great.

Looking good! You really can see a difference in your face! I wouldn't worry about no comments - it takes some people a long time to really look at you and then when they do start to notice they will be saying things like ' did you change your hair?' 'Have you got new glasses?' etc and you will be able to say no but I have lost ...kgs!!!!!

In no time all your clothes will be swimming on you - sizes are closer together as they go down so I found when I got to size 16 I no sooner got used to that size and I was in 14! I also couldn't see the weight coming off for quite a while - my head seems to have caught up now.

Well done Lila after all you have been through - enjoy the ride down the scales! :-)

Thanks all :) I appreciate it - although I think you're right Sue, it's taking time for my head to catch up but I am sure it will all settle down soon!

Aussie girl you are such an inspiration. I can't wait to reach goal. But probably won't reach it for a while as my surgeon has cleaned us to start trying to another baby. I don't tinker I can weight until 12 months out. The gap will already be 4 years. But I would like to drop another 8 before end of year and we are going to start trying in new year.

Thanks :)

The challenge is now that I have done it to maintain it...which is actually harder than I thought it was going to be, before I had a goal, a direction so to speak. Now it is like driving on a long highway, sometimes you want to vere off or are too tired, trying to watch that old habits dont sneak back in too much.

Congrats on thinking about having the baby, that is a big step, even if it is not the first. But you may as well try ...nothing ventured nothing gained so to speak...good luck :)

Lila, looking good. I think it was 4 months before people noticed and felt i guess comfortable enough to say something or tell me how good/different I was looking...they will figure it out soon enough :) And as the guys said before, the smaller the size the less distance between them..took me forever to get out of my 26'ers., then they started getting closer together.

Tip - Buy like a few specific pieces that fit at each sizeand rotate in/out the other stuff, so you dont always feel like your clothes are always too big...even if it was my favourite purchase..$8 kmart jeans. I never bought things that werent on sale or less than $10..otherwise my clothes bill would have been a big a my once food bill lol

I haven't bought a lot of clothes since shrinking but had to buy a new pair of pants for work. The other day I bought jeans from Katies. Although they were $30 on sale, they're comfy. The other day I bought white pants from K-Mart cos I'm doing The Color Run on Sunday. They were only $8. Might get more for summer in maybe a size 16. I'm size 18 at the moment (down from 22/24/26)

Hi Lila, your new photo is terrific and YES I can see a difference between your first photo and the new one.

Great work, you are an inspiration to me as I wait to have my 2nd Band removed and then wait to have a 'Bypass' sometime in the New Year.

Lila you really do look different. Your whole face has opened up and shows your pretty features. Keep looking back at these for comparison as I am sure it will motivate you even further. Can't wait to see your progress photos.

Girls are hard markers on themselves - How could you not look different with 35 kilo's lost Lila! :)

I thought I could see the difference 3 days post op  but I guess that's a guy thing.

People at work not saying anything is about folks not liking change, and that's their issue.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
