I have surgery on May 23rd!!!! :) I am so excited!!! I need to start my pre-op diet on May 14th, I am dreading it! As the days get closer I am getting super anxious. Anyone have any advice to make the liquid diet easier?!? I am a nurse and I work overnights from 7pm until 7am. I need something that will keep me up but also keep me somewhat satisfied. Any ideas?!?!

Sandrababy you should tell them that you have medical condition and you need surgery..your physician anticipate your absents for about x amount of weeks..the sooner they now the faster they are able to organize or have coverage for your absents

iM getting sleeved on May 10th!. By Dr Eric Pham in Orange. @ St. Josephs Hospital. Im so nervous but excited! ive only been at my job literally 2 months today. so i havent told them yet cuz im kinda nervous i think they might let me go when i have to ask for 2-3 weeks off for down time. =[

Sandra , you should tell your work so that it's fair to have them arrange coverage for you absents. You don't have to tell them what your surgery is for..you can tell them that you have a medical condition and that your physician is requiring x amount of weeks off for surgery. When you return you'll have a note from your physician stating your clearance with no restriction.. Keep it simple and professional and they will truly appreciate your honesty... My Sleeve is May 22nd and I'm taking 2 months off because my physician said so..I told my job 2 months in advance..now I'm just counting down..Good Luck!!

Trueme, I agree with you. The sooner she tells her job the better. I work at a hospital and I have FMLA. I am going to use short term disability during the time I am out. My Endoscopy is this morning, I hope they knock me out good..lol

Healing time! I know we will have a lot of healing to do but I just read people have taken months off of work. I hope i am up and about in days I stay at home not work but I still hope I am not needing that long of a recovery. I have seen people at my support group 6 days after an they seem fine. Good luck all

NurseVane, I am at a hospital also. I do the overnight shift. My nutritionist told me to have something before I go in and to have a Protein Drink while at work. Plus you need to keep drinking Water and crystal lite. We will get through this ;)

Leesakake, I am sure we all would like to get back to a normal routine as soon as possible but some people have jobs that are laborious and need more time off. I am only taking two weeks myself. Plus financially I can't do lot of time off.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
