Hey barngirl I was sleeved aswell' date=' I May 1st to be exact and have yet to have Protein Drinks, I thought that while you're on Clear Liquids you're not supposed to have Protein Shakes. Which one's are you having?[/quote']

My doctor had me start w Protein as soon as I left the hospital. I use pro stat 64- it's a liquid that 2 tablespoons has 15 grams of protein so that's about a one ounce drink. I mix a little Water and apple juice and take it as a 2 oz drink that I'm supposed to have.

How are you feeling? It's so strange that you feel can feel "beat up" but spool much better than the first 2days it's kinda like childbirth -after a while you don't remember the pain.

I'm still on pain meds and something for nausea and I don't seem to sleep that long or that well.

Good luck!!!!

I will be praying for you that May 11th happens!

Oh & sorry about the menstrual cycle. I read other people on here said it happened & they were fine. But it did worry me a little too.

As for me' date=' I am doing horrible on my pre-op diet. Kids had pizza & cake today at their birthday party & I caved & had a whole slice of pizza. Ugh. Wasn't even worth it.

Monday I start my liquid only diet, so then I REALLY have to buckle down & get more serious!!![/quote']

my pre op diet only consists of 5 days Clear liquids so I started that today. yesterday I didn't pig out or anything... kinda didnt even want to eat. today I've had a special k Protein Water, chicken broth, and like 4 pop cycles I made from pink lemonade. no Jello yet cause I heard eating red Jello will change the color of your insides and they will think you're internally bleeding so I'm gonna wait until I call surgeons office tomorrow before I eat the jello I made Friday. good luck with liquids tomorrow and let me know how it goes!!

If that the case I am heading to a buffet! This past week was hard. Hardly eating I did loose about 7 pounds but still.

Also (a little personal) I am getting a little freaked cause I will have my menstrual cycle for may 11. That is gonna stink! Pls pray may 11 really happens for me

All my doctor told me was that I had to be on clear liquids for two weeks. There was no mention of Protein shakes so I assumed I was not to drink it. As far as how I'm feeling I'm doing pretty good been having really soft liquidity stools (sorry for the explicit info) and some inflammation on my stomach. But I am drinking liquids aswell as Jello.

I don't have any kids so don't know what that feels like :-(. But please keep in touch so we can share our experiences

Everyone is different so follow what your doctor tells you as far as Protein is concerned. I'm glad your brought up the liquid stools-me too! I know it's gross but I was gonna ask about this- for me it's when I have gas.... This is good though, most if the time after surgery and pain meds the opposite happens and one ends up having to take an enima.. So I think we are on a good track.

I feel 1000% better than I did on Thursday right after surgery, another 1000% better than Friday, which was better than Thursday- uncomfortable and nauseous. I can walk around today, getting up is easier and I'm sticking to my 2oz of fluids per hour and taking my pain and anti nausea meds as prescribed.

I wish you much success!!!! And I hope your feeling good!

Is anyone afraid that they are making the right decision? I am. I want to be thinner and healthier more then you can imagine. Being on this prep diet do a week and half and lost 12 pounds. I say should I just keep soon this? Then I say. But I want real food. I am getting so confussed. I guess I also want to know say a year from surg what can we really eat? I haven't gotten a real answer from previous sleeve people. In will post again. I know Protein first but I wanna hear. Do you eat half a sandwich do you eat a cup of Pasta do you eat half egg omelet. Sorry I am saying all this. But I a scared!

Thanks for listening

I feel the same way at times, you are not alone! I would be worried if you did not sometimes question it, its a life changing surgery. I talk about my fears in my last you tube video. Good luck, hangin there, you will know if its the right decision for you!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
