100 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery And 82 Pounds Down Overall!

Recommended Posts

Ever since I was in kindergarten and they celebrated the 100'th day of school I've always loved the "100.... whatever", so 100 days post op is a big deal to me!!

I am down 82 pounds overall (I lost about 40 pre-surgery). I was wearing a size 24 jean at my highest and was wearing 2x/3x shirts. I am sitting her typing this in a size 12 pants and a large shirt... and they both "fit". I feel amazing! The weight loss is really only starting to hit me now, to be honest. I never "saw" it before. I know that at about the 70 pound loss mark my shape started to change. Before I had the same over-all shape, it was just smaller. But now I am curvier (and I haven't lost my boobs!!!) and my face has thinned out and I can "see" the difference.

At the beginning of this year I was at my highest weight ever, I had no job (I had put in 40 applications and NOTHING...it was horrible), I was out of school (due to financial issues), I was living at home (which really was the only plus, I adore my mom and sister)... but pretty much my life was spiraling and I was stuck. Because of situations when I was younger I've been through worse..nothing catastrophic, but lots that was very difficult. It made me capable of coping with this without becoming severely depressed but it was still hard. I am a 4.0 honors student, pre-med... and for the first time I couldn't see a future for myself.

BUT. My decision to have this surgery? It changed me life. Literally. I know that the weight loss didn't "cause" any of the changes, but so much has happened this year and it started with my decision. I got a job. It wasn't a glamorous or high paying job, but it was something. I lost a ton of weight (and I still am of course!)... but guess what? I was just offered an awesome job in NEW YORK!! Which will include enough pay for me to go back to school! I'll be working for my cousin as her "nanny" while taking a few online courses for now. I'll be in my favorite city in the whole world... it feels like my life is back on track.

This seriously has been one of the best years ever. It started off the worse, but I wouldn't change it for anything.

Thanks VST for having my back and being the best friend a girl could have through this smile.png

hi emily,

100x over I congratulate you.regular_smile.gif

What a terrific accomplishment. I'm so happy for you in many ways that your life is taking a turn for the better.

Emily you said "weight didn't cause any of the changes" I agree. But i always think as you are losing weight you are starting to feel better on the inside, which shows on the outside. I mean your self-confidence, esteem all that good stuff. Of course having a better appearance makes you feel better on the outside too.star.gif

Once again congratulations on your new job, being able to go back to school, living in your favorite city. Things are looking up up and away. What better person could this happen to?

Oh yes, congrats on your continued weight loss - sorry we'll being seeing "less of you"rolleyes.gif

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
