Countdown is on! 9/12/11 Surgery Day!

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am a little new to this forum, and so far i am soo pleased with all of the informative posts and blogs. I am so happy to announce that I was given a date of 9/12 which is in about 2 weeks from now. I must say that my journey has not been very long at all, my first step was going to a group meeting back in late June.

I am starting to prepare for my surgery by getting various products like Protein shots, Fiber bars, Vitamins etc. So if anyone has any tips or suggestions, that will be welcomed!

So excited for this new phase in my life and cant wait to share photos!

Bye till later!

Congrats on your date!!! Here are a few things that have helped me out:

1. Coffee/candle warmer - you can get it from Michael's

2. Make your favorite chicken Soup, drain everything off and freeze the broth. Believe me you will get tired of the sweet Protein Drinks. You can mix up the chicken/veggie and other stuff in your blender for when you are able to eat mushy foods.

3. Small bowl, get a pretty one :D [to fit on your candle warmer] you will be eating alot slower after surgery and this way your soup/mushies/food can stay warm.

4. Chop sticks - I got hot pink ones-I use them to help me eat slower-it really works!

5. Pretty coffee cup with a lid to fit on your candle warmer.

6. Pretty water bottle to keep your cold liquids in.

I know that's what I'm doing this week! Just making sure that I'm all set for post-op.

Thanks!

Good luck. Get you fridge stocked ahead of time but just samples until you know what you like and can tolerate.

THESE ARE AWESOME TIPS!!!!!!!!!!!

The warmer is a definite necessity unless you have a husband that doesnt mind running to the microwave every hour to heat up whatever you've been trying to eat for hours.. :D

I am scheduled the same day here in Phoenix. I am getting excited and nervous at the same time. How is your pre op diet going? I am having a hard time already, full liquids for 2 weeks is tough. Good luck with everything.

I haven't had mine, yet, but I gotta say, don't get Protein shots. You need Protein drinks/mixes. Protein Shots have the wrong kind of protein in them (collagen), not whey, and they are not what we need after surgery....they're pretty bad.

Other than that, I am going to buy myself a warmer, now, too! What a GREAT idea!!

Getting ready for my date 9/14/11. I ordered every Protein sample under the sun. I need to buy a few items from store. Storage containers, food warmer(hehe),food scale, broth, ice pop maker (for my crystal light pops, lol), Jello, and etc. I am excited and nervous but God is in control of the situation!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
